Tamed pet gone

From the standpoint of we have to wait up to an hour to get the pet summoned again I think I understand what you mean. But to me waiting 10, 30, 55, 59 minutes to pull out my pet versus gone forever...there is no internal debate for me: flee even if that means self-dismiss. Either way the quote is clear "Tamed beasts will also not fight to the death, fleeing when badly injured." That clearly means they are to stop fighting and remove themselves from the fight. They are not doing that currently.

I guess we'd have to understand what "fleeing" is defined as for Portalarium. To me, fleeing means completely disengaging to the point of leaving the scene - effectively self dismissing. If they only run away a bit and get hit again then they are not fleeing, they are just dragging the MOBs with them and will die. They must flee far enough to disengage or have an escape skill that removes agro from them.
