I was hanging out on kickstarter and can not belief what i saw. This is Ultima Online 2! So many years of waiting for this coming true. I'm so glad you are doing this project. All the details in this game - this is real passion! I had so much fun in the world of Britannia. I can still not belief this is getting true again.

All i can say is - Thank you!

    Farewell!

Welcome noQuarter to the forums. I know I was excited also to find out about this game. It's not really Ultima Online2 but it will get to have many elements we loved from the game.

Based on todays mega PvP/death post, I think SotA will be far more like UO than many had originally thought. I know I am pleased. I'm glad NoQuarter is as well.

    And Welcome!

Sorry to break it to you but i dont think this is uo2.

More like multiplayer U7. In case you have missed the pre alphas, all areas are a x b zoned instances.

If that fullfills your idea of uo2 then groovy.

    I don't even know wat an a x b zoned instance is.

There was no Open PvP in U7, by definition. There is in SotA.

I was referring to the size of a zone where a x b would represent a small/med/large size dimension map.. Roughly what we see so far in kingsport/owl's head.

I am trying not to pigeonhole this game as I see it after only playing 2 pre-alpha releases, and both those times was located within city areas, so I actually don't know if there will be different 'map types' out there or not... There probably will be.
Yes, ofc that is why I said "multiplayer U7".

It isn't UO2. It is the 'spiritual successor' to first the Single Player Ultimas and to Ultima Online secondly. It's a Selective Multi-player game. There will be some PvP, but not open world, 'full loot'. Read some Dev Posts, and see some updates. Welcome to the community! *smiles*

I would say this is more like UO than any other Ultima. No other Ultima had instances, multiplayer, crafting skills like this, public housing, guilds, PvP, etc.

People seem to be over-reacting that one aspect of UO that hasn't really existed in years isn't included and thusly saying that means this is nothing like UO.

It doesn't matter how many times this is pointed out, certain people will still scream: "No open/non-con PvP means it's nothing like UO!"

But you're right. It's more like UO than some people care to admit, because it doesn't emulate the aspect(s) of UO they loved.

Welcome to the forum and to the community, NoQuarter!

I have loved the Ultima games for more years than I care to remember :) - the depth, the intricate details, the need to think and work out stuff, and the moral and ethical basis.

I started UO 6 months ago; had never tried an online game and thought it would "prepare" me for SoTA. I have to say that in spite of the dated graphics, and the Oceania shard being very sparsely populated, it IS very addictive; I can see why people keep coming back, and some folk have been there for 14 years!

What you may be saying is, based on what we have seen so far, that this game has "Richard Garriott" written all over it. It's what I think, and it just felt like "coming home".

There will indeed be similarities to UO, there will also be differences. I am also looking forward to a deep and immersive storyline, as in U7, and the ethical paradoxes of U4.

You will find much to love here. Welcome to your new home!!

Anyway if Sota could get the 50% of UO if going to be the best MMO in the present.

I stand by it. Its still nothing like UO. Its like a regular MMO. UO was about more than a standard. I ment similarities shared between sota and and UO not every other game in the genre. By that i mean gameplay ie combat, eqipment ,aethestics , art style, gameplay etc. it has more in common with wow than UO.

Picking online similarities and listing them saying they share the same features and are similar is misleading because of course they are both online cause they are both in the mmo space. A pizza cutter and airplane both have wheels but how similar are they?

@mmjarec When i look at the videos, this game gives me the feeling "coming home" again. This looks more like uo than any other game i have seen. 50% uo? Thats okey! I only need a fishing rope, some friends and a tavern so we can discuss where to place the new carpet in my house :D I dont need the full aspects of uo. Bying houses, decorate them, pvp, guilds and multiplayer is ok for me. :)
