The Virtue Quest makes us steal books, might want to reconsider that one

So in order to finish the Virtue Quest as given by the students of Virtue in Ardoris one has to go around Novia collecting books from different locations.
Which is fine when those locations are adventuring scenes or other such settings. However some of those locations are prominent homes of key characters in the world.

So we are then supposed to steal books from these homes in order to finish the quest... Doesn't seem like it would work without some stern words from the Oracle about stealing not being that good for Truth.

Some of those books are also within plain sight of guards, so when that is implemented should one get arrested for taking those?

 

The real question is: Is it stealing books? Or is it liberating them from a place of non-reading!! O.O

 

Which is kinda funny, the only NPC I've seen reading a book is Peladjar in Ardoris who is running a tavern...

Proposal:

The students mention the books were loaned out and you are recovering the books they rightfully owned, so you're not stealing them. You talk to 12 NPCs who each borrowed the books, and they let you know where they last left them and give you permission to take them to return them.

 

I completed this quest ages ago when they first released it. When they said the rewards would not actually stick to our accounts, I decided to stop working on all quests until they would no longer be erased. Now that we are persistent, I'm thinking about making the run again for the 12 books.

Are the books in the same location as when the quest was initially created? Can you still complete the quest twice to get both statues?

Yes to both, did it a few days ago.
Spectral mines might be different to get to the tomb part since you need to go through the surrounding lands first to get to the mine, look for a small crevasse immediately left when you enter the mines for the familiar pit-drop.

Good that you waited. All of the assorted bugs with that quest should worked out by now

 

It was an early quest; thanks to final wipe we're getting a lot of people hammering on the older ones as well. I agree with your concerns.

 

Since we're talking about it @Lum, would it make sense to change the names of the books so that the non-quest versions of the books are just called "Book Name" instead of "Book Name (copy)" and have the quest version of the books be changed to "Book Name (Original)." I think it would make more sense, especially if the story is modified so that they are asking us to find the original copies of the texts. It would certainly make noticing them a little easier as I do whatever else I am doing all over New Britannia.

 

Agreed that it was early and you threw it together mostly for fun so that we'd have s challenge which would send us out into the world.
But if one follows the Love Path it is also one which one stumbles upon early on.

I do like the concept really much so I'd just propose moving all the books out of homes and properly into the "wild".

What do you think of my proposed solution that you're retrieving borrowed books to alleviate the stealing concerns?

Virtue and Chaos are different axis, not two sides of the same coin.

 

So....I have the three individual statues and am debating if I should just keep them separate instead of handing them in for the combined Statue of Virtue. I kind of like the fact that the three can be used as decorations without having to be combined. And they look cool surrounding the Statue of Chaos.

 

I wonder if there is a way to redo the quest from scratch to get duplicates?

 

Is anyone aware of a list for all the quests that provide item or emote rewards?

 

I would love to see that too. I'm sure one will surface eventually...although I really don't have the capacity to start another list.

I recall that when it was first release you could only complete it once. Not sure now.
