    Why do you think it is a part of Daedalus?
    Daedalus and none of his drifting parts has red "faultlines". (Picture of Daedalus below)

    And if he just got red faultlines as the asteroid got close to the atmosphere this wouldn’t be an issue because than the heat of touching the atmosphere would have heated the cold asteroid but as far as I remember even on the earliest pictures the asteroid had red faultlines even while drifting in the open space far away from the atmosphere....that way it is just reasonable to assume that this asteroid is not a part of Daedalus and has red faultlines out of its own currently unknow reasons! :D

    Because he first appeared in the sky just trailing Deadalus... Birthed from the molten core of the broken moon... The red color just means he's somewhat cooler than his father.
