    For several reasons:

1:) amazimg social elements u just dont see much of nowadays
2:) creative combat design, and AI in the works.
2:) in-depth crafting and genuine raw material value
2:) regional economy and localized banking, making Trade routes and delivery orders a profitable reality
    2:) the music system
3:) the extreme level of input from the existing (broad-minded) community, and developers that actually impliment them.
4:) the graphics, even in thier unfinished state, both look great and do not force me to get a new computer.

I'm enjoying it right now myself. I just want to lose my stuff!

If I could lose my stuff and need to seek our crafters or get new stuff somehow it would be a damn near perfect game. After that is in all I really want are more skills, clothes, etc... more of what they're doing!

This is the best community game I have played .. I have a few friends still from other games I keep in touch with. But Those relationships took much longer to develop than the ones I'm developing in SoTA.

So many people pushing as positively as thy can it peaks and valleys but its all with the best intentions.. I have met a great bunch of people here that I hope to call friends for life or many many years as we embark on what I know will be a great adventure.

Best ever was UO, best game on the horizon SOTA. For all the same reasons as OP.

I have been a backer for a fair time. I had only ever logged in and played for maybe an hour not knowing what I was doing. This weekend I have given it a try again. I have met some awesome people who have helped me a lot in learning the skills system and other things. I'm now loving the game and exited for its future.

Good point on regional banking. Socially 1 bank everyone hangs out at is is cool, but the regional banking will demand trade and boost the value and player driven economy.

I agree.. I have tried so many MMO s none have ever felt right these days. Almost all of them are just a hand holding grind to an end game when you pointlessly repeat the same few dungeons in a group in hope a shiny piece of armour drops. Then keep doing it till you have the full set. Then a new raid comes out and you keep do it all again.

SotA is talking a brave step backwards. Which is a good move..

No icons above an Npc to magically tell you they have a quest!
I love having to talk to them and search for them. Yes it's bloody annoying sometimes but I learn more of the lore and feel more connected than randomly, click run there collect return collect... Wham bam thank you mam.

    No global chat!
WTB x, WTS x, IR 1337 ninja, GTFO noob ext. I am happy. Not to see this. To be fair I have not even seen anyone say noob at all in game yet.

    Player Driven Content!
Events organised and run by player groups. Loved watching the EVL Gauntlet the other night was really fun to be there. Used to love these kind of events in Roleplay Groups back on Ultima Online.

    Persistent Houseing
Having a house other players can walk past and see and not hidden away in instances.
