Truth Virtue - How to raise it?

Is it basically going around looking for an NPC at any town and just say, "Hi, my name is {player name}"?

I had quite a bit of negative truth hit due to being early deco hunter back in the day.

 

I went around 7-8 NPC cities and told all the Guards and other residents - My name is [Name] and also asked standard questions (Name, Health, Job, News/Rumors). But it doesn't work. My intelligence didn't get higher by 0.1. What to do now? Are there other ways to increase intelligence or is this process irreversible? I'll do anything to regain my lost intelligence, but I don't know how.

 

You might see if it requires being scanned to affect it.

Could also be a level of significance in the truthful act. For the name thing, may want to check Marshal Mather's truth virtue stat.

I'd imagine turning in ecological surveys and not lying boosts it as well.

 

Im here as well... Pretty much every NPC in the game knows my name now, which has affected the pride stat apparently... Ive done all the truth quests as well. It wont budge.

 

I did visit mainly Ardoris and could rise my level by maybe 3. In total 4 bigger cities and I went up from -2 to +5. Just telling my name and asking for theirs (I guess not needed).
I did sometimes tell my name several times to the same NPC, not sure whether this helps.
As a note: to rise love I did gift the 1 gold to beggars and could repeat it many times successfully , could be the same for truth.
Maybe your -5 is a very low number and only capped at -5?

 

Giving to beggars helps the dex stat.... I dunno who more to say "my name is" and I havent budged....

 

The Oracle should say: "You talked to x number of strangers and told every one of them your name. What is wrong with you?"

 

This was the only negative I got when completing the main quest. I assumed that it was from clicking the "Avatar" keyword in an attempt to activate the next sequence in a quest.

 

I cannot increase intelligence instead of resist! I run all over already 3 I am proud telling all the name!

 

If you are showing -5 Int on your Shroud, you've pegged Truth to the floor... When they showed our stats in /stats my Truth was -989.

My only solution was to reset quests and it still was low, probably -20 Truth. But continually taking about my name and doing Truth quests have brought me up to +3 Int on my Shroud. Couldn't have done it without a reset.

 

My stats /stats found just that: VirtueCourage: -1, VirtueLove: -1, VirtueTruth: -1. Nothing like Truth was -989.

 

After R36 in 2016 they masked it so everyone's is -1 in /stats. It's all hidden now!

 

the virtues in the stats are lies. they show -1 for everything for everyone.

 

How do you reset and start a new?

 

Tried an experiment for everyone today.

I started with my Shroud showing +1.3 Int. If you are at -5 Int then YMMV but anything else and you should be good:

Talked to every single NPC including the crown Obsidian automatons in two towns and said two things (use your clipboard to paste):

1. My name is Benjamin Hroth
2. name

After speaking to everyone in Aerie and Yew, at 0.1 at a time I got to +5 Int.

I can't quite remember but I think you do it from the main menu before starting the game.

 

you do not need the clipboard due to history - just use the arrow up key.
As a side note: stealing seems to be OK as long as you tell them your name
