This perpetual development model was lauded by many as a feature.
Al software is perpetually developed.
As you approach the cotton bush it springs to life, bouncing about like a crazed chia pet. The bush strikes out at you - cotton brushing your face.
How about nodes become monsters?
I work under the assumption that everything is a potential mimic until proven innocent.
The hat mimic is vicious.
The grave mimic looks a little phallic.
There is a perpetual cycle but it is based on well defined and valued deliverables. Neither of which Portnip has engaged in delivering...
Exit Tartarus to the world map and you're nearby Kiln...
If you exit it via the tartarus exit, you’re at the entrance to tartarus
Which is far, far away from Kiln, backing my point "Tartarus is disconnected from the world".
In fact Tartarus first showed up being a placeless scene. I feel it's still placeless to this day, with no quest or lore bound to it in any form. And big Satyrs walking around an underground empty tower carrying bandit gear.
You can enter Tartarus in the Savrenoc Stronghold. That's disconnected from the world?
You mean that one door in the corner now goes somewhere? I'll have to check it out.
Of note is the fact that the wall is more of an "unintended entrance" (when looking at it from a level design perspective), because it isn't the MAIN entrance.
If you come at it from Savrenoc Stronghold, where there is an actual cave mouth entrance, outside of which are camped a squad of elves, it makes much more sense.
Doesn't really solve the whole "lore" part of it, but from a design perspective, there is at least an entrance that makes sense in an "Underdark" kind of way.
I'm aware of that entrance... which is hidden behind a series of tunnels with Death Metal Slimes, Satyrs in a maze, a teleporter on top of a tower, sewers inhabited by a huge pirate skeleton archer (what?) and a freaking secret passage. How am I supposed to believe that this is the "level design" main entrance?
The problem is: Tartarus is all over the place. It's nearby Kiln, Verdantis Foothills (from The Rise) and Savrenoc Stronghold.
It's very hard for me to feel that the scene is tied to the world in any form.
It's not tied to the world. It's Tartarus.
No mention of Episode 2 'story' work in Chris's 2021 goals-but-no-plan spiel.
And notice how that thread was locked and we couldn't respond to it?
Episode 2 is dead.
SOTA is in maintenance mode, folks.
Episode 2’s plane has crashed. It is dead and i am a vegetable.
See you all tomorrow. *stomps in place quieter and quieter and listens to see if people think he left*
