So as I walk around in the game im noticing that people are selling short stories and stuff on their vendors or displaying them publicly in their book shelves. Im itching to maybe write some odd tales and setting them up in my house... if I find a plot... But what im wondering is. Are there certain rules to follow when it comes to these books? Like there are on the forums? What I am wondering is, can these books be filled with the most vile twisted content your mind can imagine? Like a triple rated R movie but instead a book? If the book is displayed publicly im guessing it has to obey the ratings or censorship of the game... but say you have a book on your vendor that warns the buyer its full of rancid content that's their own fault if they read it im thinking....
The other thing I wonder is if one writes short stories and the setting is modern will it get banned or something?
One of the things im interested in doing in this game is using the book writing features to the fullest. Like player owned libraries, maybe even writing scrolls and stuff that would end up being keys to proceeding through player run quests.

Books that players write need to be in accordance with the Terms of Service. I assume that the Devs can track who wrote a book, and that players could get banned for introducing objectionable content into the game. In my mind, the worst case scenario would be if the Devs had to remove this feature entirely because it was being abused by a small minority of players. So if you are thinking of shocking your fellow players by writing content that is objectionable, please don't.

Books are work of fiction... I our world of fiction, don't see any problem with a modern setting in a book.
Though there are things that come to mind that you probably shouldn't write about ( I'm not going to explain that further for fear of post being deleted :p )

Im not sure that I would write books that are like pornographic and such... But twisted HP lovecraft type tales. And sometimes those types of things get a bit out of hand.... Though I myself when I sift through other's books wouldn't be afraid of finding the most vile content imaginable... >=-P I like seeing others creating shocking content as well. I feel that so long as certain books aren't displayed publicly there should be 21+ books sellable on vendors and stuff.
Im not interested in breaking the terms of service in the least bit. Not interested in trolling players. Just interested in allowing like minded players being able to communicate and interact however they wish. And I understand that those publicly displayed books are most definitely going to be used for trolling and need to be moderated... Just like players being able to text and communicate with each other is definitely going to have to be moderated as well. I mean look at some of the forums so far.... Its going to keep happening so long as players are able to communicate with each other. Im not interested in displaying any vicious or shocking content to a player that is just going to get annoyed and contact the devs about it. But I don't want to lose or have the book writing features limited because of the few trolls out there....

Lord British said party naked once. And so many other people say its an 18 + environment.. perhaps ask them to introduce a "are you 18 or over?" upon clicking the book and display a warning with a brief description of what they are about to read.. We are mostly adults here after all :) And as an adult I love my freedom.
