Your coat of arms!

I wonder if we could design our own coat of arms within the game, and place it on our house above the main door?
It would have to be moderated to weed out the naughty ones!
Anybody else like the idea?

 

The Virtual Collector pledge level includes this ability:

• Get your own Family Crest for display on your shield, tabard and house flag, made from a customized image uploaded by YOU! (Submitted Art subject to Developer Approval).

 

This is actually a pledge reward at the $100 Founder Pledge level.

You may also be interested in the Heraldry thread. They have some really good expertise in the Coat of Arms realm.

 

All coat of arms must be submitted to The College of Arms for approval for inclusion in the game. Please check out the Heraldry thread for more details...

Is there anything you dont have to pay for us freeloaders who are just used to paying for a game once?

 

I'm only paying for the game once as there is no subscription fee. I spent $150 on the Collector level which for me, isn't any different than pre-ordering a collector's edition of another game. The collector's edition of Star Wars the Old Republic was $200 (though it included a small statue). And I think this perk was included in the $100 tier, so you didn't have to spend $150. That's just how much I spent.

I'm also curious if players who didn't get in at the Founder Collector's level can still use a crest in the game even if they can't upload their own. Can you get a crest with your guild's logo on a shield that someone crafted?

SotA is also allowing crowd-sourcing of art assets. You can try to submit a shield, flag, cloak, etc. for inclusion in the game.

 

This isn't something that I have looked into. I assumed it would be a simple upload option in game similar to Aion....it the gets approved over 'x' number of hours/days. Is this not the case?

 

So... as someone that has that feature I wonder if you will be able do create it ingame like in Guild Wars for example or you need to send it to the devs and pass some sort of image filtering etc.. that kind of sounds a bit clunchy.

 

I believe the process is currently to submit them in the Heraldry thread here on the forums, get them approved by the College of Arms, and then later there will be an ability to upload the file to the devs. But I haven't seen all the details yet.

I think it one of the many ways Portalarium is leveraging the community to make us feel involved.

I'm hoping the actual mechanic of uploading files to the devs will be easy and "lazy friendly" as you put it.

 

Maybe its worth spending sometime creating a simple program/site so people can create thier own with a few clicks... Maybe I do it if I feel bored heh

There are generators linked in the Heraldry thread allowing you to make one on the web with a few clicks. They're a bit simplistic now, but I think in the thread it was suggested they may be expanded with some public domain artwork.

I also just posted in the thread stating what kind of crest I wanted and someone quickly made one for me. So that is certainly lazy-friendly.

I might create my own one, with my face stamped to it... with a cup of tea and rabbits....

Id be all for it if isnt an extra cost. It was mentioned in a dev chat that player submitted ones would be rare due to approval having to weed out genitals

 

But I can make you one with a pair of weeded out genitals if you want!

Or even a hemp leaf covering the genitals! (so you don't get banned)
