52 pieces of leather then for one leather chest?

How much leather for one full suit?

I'm using my Sword of Bah'eer from my pledge rewards which has proven to be foolish and costly. It breaks down very quickly and I get throwing tons of cash at it in repair kits and yet I'm not getting any gold in because I can't afford to make a single leather chest piece yet.

I finally learned to make a leather chest with maple straps in R13, or something like that. Problem is, in R14 the recipe for maple strips has changed too and I have no clue what it is now. I could put a maple board there before, that gave me 3 strips. Not anymore. Anyone know how to get maple strips?

I've been using my reward armor but you can't get armor free in the chest in Owl's Head anymore. What are you all doing to get armor? It's so expensive at the shop, but more expensive to repair.

A lot of this really doesn't seem balanced. It's not that we were spoiled before and now it's harder. It's that the recipes are particularly obnoxious, and I haven't found this in other games I play. Just getting encumbered after half an hour or less is kind of ridiculous too.

I've been making more money with what they've put in this release than I ever did making a ton of leggings. The money's out there in the world, just gotta sell the right stuff. :)

I'm simply curious as to what the recipe is for one item, because once you figure it out for one, it's easy for the rest, supposedly, easier..

i have one point in "carry skill" and that is plenty enough to carry all the skins

insane ammount of leather for one piece of clothing though, or very small wolfes and bears

right now i am rather put off with making things, I tried out to make an poleaxe but every combination that makes even remotely sense fails (and I know quite some about smithing in RL)

So my guess is in this game smithing is some obscure magical thing

Probably going to see a lot of crafters with higher Strength and Level 5 "Heavy Lifter".

I mean my Meat Shield gatherer character can carry 215 pounds now, just so I can carry all those "Rusty Sword" objects I loot, and all the hide, and all the reagents, and all the...

Good thing the Crafting and Adventurer skill points are separate. :)

I wonder if you absolutely have to use gems to craft weapons and armor in this release. hmm

With this release i wonder how crafting will be of use though, gathering ressources = timesink
Either earn gold to pay for formulas or try it out until you get lucky = huge timesink
Running from bank to bank collecting stuff to craft = huge timesink
Ammounts needed from mobs (skins) and collecting ore and what not = huge timesink

Prices as faar i have seen make only the production of jewelled weapons interesting, everything else not so much... or so expensive noone can afford them.
When i need to grind two days to make one chest piece of leather armor you better pay me an stiff sum of gold for that, enough to have one made out of gold...

we need cheap armor for newbies, and then someway moderate priced for people levveling to 20, if everything is player made, but with so many skins needed for one it becomes more an bother than fun.

20 skins for an chestpiece and then make it in vendors max 1000 gold is realistic in my eyes, for better leather (where one can say it will be in use for an few weeks at least until outlevelled more soteric and harder to get ressources, higher prices on vendors too to keep the price up

Moneysinks like ressources to buy from npc adjust accordingly

Repair sets right now are to expensive, it is cheaper to buy the basic armors and weapons from npc than repairing them

You probably don't want to give it away, but it really would be useful to know what to sell!

Chairs... lots and lots of chairs... I haven't actually started crafting yet this release, but it amuses me to think it would be furniture related.

think of this realistically. that is a lot of flipping leather to put around you in a chest piece.

WAY too much in fact. instead of trying to balance it that way, maybe the devs should install a flipping skill system that lets you get better at skinning over time, when you NEED the money at the later stages in the game.
i would be ok with it, if it was harder to get at lower levels, cause i ended up r13 with almost 1.2 million gold. way too much. most of it was that and duo'ing chillblains.

I think that's the plan, to have additional crafting skills in regards to better yields with gathering, etc., depending on skill level. I would've liked to have seen a 'gain skill by use' setup, but I am also curious as to how the crafting skill trees will be fleshed out and what that will look like exactly. :p

On another note, has anyone gotten any closer to the elusive recipe?

i hope that it will not turn out into people having 3 chars for crafting because one has to specialise in one field to have "sucess"

time put into it should stay always proportional, no limits to how many disciplines one char can really master (or we have p2p where people who can afford many char slots can do, others not)

Make it hard to master one line of skills yes, or there is no archivement, but if one masters one line the next should be the same effort, not more for each new line...

balance it so that people who are passionate about tradeskillls can play them and are not forced to level insane high to get components.

(yes people claim the fighter types go out and bring back the very special stuff but tell me one game where that worked out, people who are not into tradeskils do not know what that special gem is for and sell it to npc and fighter types who are use it self, at best it is sold at prices that are insane at best.)

Or make mechanics that allow an crafter to produce things that belong to others so they see if an attempt failed or the crafter lied and keeps it for himself, that can be an huge issue too, like public "failed/succeded" messages if so desired.
