Wouldn't it be cool if artifacts were commonly broken, and you had to embark upon quests to fix them or perhaps find and assemble their pieces to complete them? Also... sure would be nice if they truly had drawbacks. Some drawbacks do not affect the user in any negative fashion.

(For instance, getting tons of sun attunement and losing moon attunement? An awesome item for a sun caster without moon magic. Perhaps make it minus 100 moon resistance instead or in addition to? Though that still doesn't matter if there are no mobs in your area doing moon magic damage),

Wouldn't it be cool if artifacts had associated histories and lore?

Wouldn't it be cool that if you died, you had to return to your corpse and retrieve all the items you've found since you entered that zone? (Much harder to farm and leave with your life AND your loot).

Wouldn't it be cool if there was a darkness spell, that creatures could cast to cancel your magical light or perhaps even counteract your torchlight etc for periods of complete darkness or perhaps darkness until you relit/recast your light source?

Wouldn't it be cool if there were objects (likely farmable or lootable) that could only be seen by night vision from the moon tree, light from the sun tree, and/or by torch light?

Wouldn't it be cool if there was a risk to using the moongates, that could send you spiraling into a level appropriate ethereal mini-dungeon?

Wouldn't it be cool if there were ghostly NPC's at each ankh, that could explain the death system, why Avatars are reborn (perhaps slowly through a knowledge based quest as you level, revealing new tasks in the death realm to learn more and more of why Avatars are bound to New Britannia?)

True! I use it, but I also have never had it cast upon me. Another option to bring someone into darkness for sure.

Wouldn't it be cool if weather could cause buffs and debuffs? If its raining, you likely would have a Poor Footing debuff, easy to slip or perhaps when snowing/icy. When it's extremely hot in the desert, perhaps an Overheated debuff. If it's beautiful outside, you could have a "Boy What a Beautiful Day This Is" Buff :p

@Lord British or @Bowen Bloodgood might like this one...

Wouldn't it be cool, if during character creation, you picked a zodiac sign based upon your storyline's birth month (of course using the Constellations in-game) and you'd receive a buff whilst that constellation was prevalent and an entire astrology system could be developed for buffs/debuffs based upon the alignments and what your zodiac sign was.

*edit: of course, the buffs and debuffs would be in relation to the constellation's meaning/intent as well. There could be entire quest lines devoted to exploring the astrology of your choice.

Wouldn't it be cool if there was a spell cast by enemy mobs (likely Chaos magic) which imbued the party (party scenes, individual scenes only) with temporary PvP status allowing accidental friendly fire periods within combat? It could be called "Shardfall Madness" or something to that nature. Of course, it's effects can be carefully avoided if you carefully target items during that madness and avoid use of AOE damage spells. Perhaps it COULD include an occasional tick of forced target switching as well. Be a great time for the mob to summon a swarm of spiders etc that you'd need your AOE's for ;) Lots to target too!

Wouldn't it be cool if there was a bulletin board that was much smaller and hangable on a wall? (And if bulletin papers didn't count against POT deco limits?)

Wouldn't it be cool, after dipping into water, you'd receive a clean buff (longer lasting) and a wet debuff (shorter duration)? The clean buff could give benefits to social interaction or even a morale type boost for your character, and the wet debuff... well, wet clothes cause chaffing don't they? ;) New Britannian's need to bathe, darn it! :p Certain water sources could provide enhanced debuffs and buffs depending. I suspect pond water might not even provide a buff, mucky crap that it is. Probably just gonna catch a brain eating bacteria :p

Wouldn't it be cool if there was something called a "foundation" available in multiple sizes and depths, which allows recessed placement on non-flat areas in towns to provide a flat decoratable surface or perhaps even a flat area for a house?

Wouldn't it be cool if Public Cache chests came in a variety of types? Oft I use these for player created quests, kinda of like a treasure hunt yet they all look the same. I could hide them much better if they had a variety of styles, such as a grave, a sack, a box, a backpack, etc. Sure, add-on store versions would be nice, but also versions available on the vendors as more money sink options. (Think they sell for 20000g a piece currently).

Or in the least, it'd be cool if the interface remembered your last posted price for an item when you posted it again. I think SWG used to do that. Good idea though, I just got done stocking my vendor -- man oh man, what a chore.

Amen! And also, if you clicked an ingredient which is also crafted, it would take you to its page, and if you clicked a core ingredient, it might bring up a window describing it. Heck, it'd be fun to learn about medieval crafting, perhaps there could be historical information about these items to help us understand it even more and perhaps even appreciate the robust system they've devised here.
