[Responded] Loading stuck @99% 98% (Equipping Avatar) post /bug info

Had this now on both

Unfortunately its hard to do /bug when our client has locked up

Had this repeatedly trying to get into new brit market where I have a house but on my alt account.
At 1st Id been making my journey from elads via boat- central brit - new brit and it kept locking at 98%.
Next tried going from world map, same issue.
Next I switched pc, but same character - same issue.
Last I switched to private / party and then I got in (but as it turned out that seemed to be chance)

Yesterday tried about 10 times to get into newbrit market to water plants couldnt get in atall until I went in with main character, and then my
alt account could teleport to main character.

Also yesterday a friend had same issue trying to get into party in Tenebris harbour with 2nd account on 1 pc, in end he got in after a couple of attempts. (that was just after yesterday afternoons server patch)

Today Im having same issue with trying to go into soryn fields (pot outside resolute) all I wanted to do was get in to get a str buff to teleport.
Rebooted whole pc and tried again although on reboot for a change it acknowledged I was already in Soryn fields on the logon, unlike other times where its shown me as still at the previous location and it loaded in

This is from 2nd pc thats had most issues , note its from a successful load not a failure.

Edit: Since having the issue Ive rebound to my house in newbrit (was bound elsewhere) and so far not had the issue recalling in.

Edit . Also of note my main pc (i7) is on max gfx settings, and second pc (i5) is on Fastest and lowest settings.

 

So more information:

We need to know if you are guys are getting the 'dimmed out screen' followed by 'This program is not responding'
Many of you have reported this exact behavior.
This has now been determined to be unity related bug. This has been around, but seems to be more frequent

If you guys are actually stuck on the loading screen and it doesn't end up hanging up like that, please let us know.
Main thing is we don't want to get two different issues confused with one another.

 

I'm fully aware. I'm asking for /bug in a scene you guys can get into. It's not to get coords but to get some spec information.

But please review the post I've made above as I want to clarify two possibly different issues with some developing information. If the client stays locked up on the loading screen and never dims out and crashes, those are the ones we want /bug for, as of right now.

WOW, to be honest, not entirely sure. The game is hung, but I definitely don't see a an unprompted 'this game is not responding' message or a dimmed screen. It's best described for me as a perpetual loading at 98% and other than this all appears normal (but isn't) as game will never load... Once I try to alt-tab or break out or use task manager, then I see how hung up everything is but not before..sorry this is so vague Lexie

But it is biting again as of 2 days ago. I can load into overworld, but can't get to Port Phoenix and thus Diamond Fields. My house rent is up in 17 days . . . you know what. Don't worry about it. Uninstalling and reinstalling didn't work last time. This time I'll leave it uninstalled. Here's the most recent crash log. well, now i have the problem too, entering veritas sanctuary from novia overworld
relogging to get my spec

btw my alt I have are in veritas sanctuary and them i can load but not my main account - THAT is weird

for info:
I start the game with command line -popupwindow !
while the game is loading I ALT-Tab out of the game and do some stuff on my second monitor

when i see that it hangs on 98% loading into the scene i move the mouse pointer into the sota window (borderless windowed mode on main monitor) the mouse is shown as waiting wheel (win 7)

if I then click I get the not repsonding window and the game is faded to white in background

i logged in into my alt did the bugreport - closed client logged in my main resumed to novia did bugreport tried entering veritas sanctuary => stuck on 98%

closed game

and then I got this solved:

log into my alternate in veritas sanctuary
log out to main menu (don't close the client)
log in my main account
start on world map (instead of resume to novia after the crash)
enter veritas sanctuary and now I am in...

@Lexie that is really weird behaviour....

 

In all my cases its been the locked out loading screen, when you click screen goes white and get end task or cancel (which has often happend and if you clicked cancel and waited it would go in in past but not now)

I can get to the places I couldnt before by binding in there and recalling or teleporting in. Also often after crashing now when I log back in its showing me as in the zone I couldnt get into and I can then log straight in in the zone, whereas before I was still in the zone I had been leaving.

 

@Lexie Confirmed above method of Rentier, with a few more tests

98% Once again coming into new brit market (via boat from central brit) rather than teleporting in, but I was also in new brit on my main account
and my alt was showing as in the zone.

I then ran over to the entrance but alt account hadnt appeared, but doesnt time out and stays logged into the game while its stuck at 98% however long it is left (waited about 10-15mins)

I then waited till alt was no longer showing in the zone and reloaded client. This time client had then reset itself to Central Brit again.
Invited alt into party and tried again, locked at 98% again, Party bar appeared as it does just before character joins scene showing as 0/0 hp
and then it locked up. Again at this point character also showing on nearby player list.

I also tested and my alt is a valid Teleport target in new brit market.

I then rebooted 2nd pc with alt on and tried again.
Second account again showing up as in Central brit, I resumed there and tried boat again.
Again the same issue and it locked at 98% showing up as a nearby player and partialy loaded party bar (0/0)


I then tried @Rentier `s solution and logged out my main that was in new brit market, went to menu,
logged in alt account who was in central brit and tried going via boat to New brit
Hey Presto were in.
Logged out to main menu, reloaded on both Pcs in the zone.
Nice one !

So can confirm 2 ways in that work for those who cant get into places - Teleport in / Recall in or in you have access logout main who is
already in the zone and log alt in

Edit : Follow up. After using Rentiers method to get in on alt acount on 2nd pc I watered plants, and from new brit market-central brit - Elads lighthouse to other house to water plants there. After I was done I then was still able to go back into new brit market via the boat from brit.
So it seems that once youve got in once on the client in question since a reboot you are ok and can get back in any way.

 

I tried both recall into Diamond Fields and teleporting to someone there. Neither worked for me. Although ironically this method DID work for a guildy who lives in Verat Chaos who was having a similar issue. So the fix is at least a good idea to try.

 

Can't get in to Owl's Head...spins forever at 98% with the "equipping avatars..." message. Here are the specs when I load the overworld instead:

@Rentier yep. i couldn't enter OH after trying a few times, so i resumed on overworld instead

 

Had the same problem today.

Unequipped my cloak and can now enter towns.

 

interesting. a: what was the specific cloak? b: do you have cloth simulation on or off in video settings?

Seeing the same issue. Entering some POTs, and one mine (Serpent Spine Mine). Stopped at 98%. Some just sat there at 98%, no dimming, no cursor changes. Some (the mine in particular) did not dim but gave me a blue spinning cursor (perhaps the Windows ""not responding" cursor?).

Exiting to Novia and re-entering fixed the mines but not the POTs.

That's generally what happens to me when the bug kicks in. When the program isn't responding to Windows events (such as clicking in the window), it is declared non-responsive, and Windows lets you kill it. (From time to time I have had times where clicking didn't bring up the close program dialog and I had to kill it with task manager, but those are unrelated to this bug.)

But I haven't seen it since I changed my video to Good (with no shadows) from Fastest.

 

Bug happens to me too. Trying to zone into Soltown from over world or out of Soltown. Tried unequipping all gear off toon, no go hangs at 98% the faded out screen only happens if I click anywhere on the screen. Restarting doesn't work. Changing vid settings doesn't work. The game is unplayable.

 

@Lexie I had this exact same issue. That's why I can't bug that. I only had this bug in April the 27th (multiple times because I didn't go into the Overworld Map directly after) and in May the first (once). It only happened when loading the game for the first time, in the player owned town I was referring to. Since those days, I can load Tenebrae without issues.

I don't wear any cloak. That said, that doesn't mean that nobody in Tenebrae was not wearing cloaks when I had those bugs. I don't know.
