    Is this correct?
The coming release will give double XP for crating?

    I have barely tried crafting.
    (producer level 42)

What is the best way for a new crafter to take advantage of this double XP?

Should I specialize in one item or area?

You get a significant exp bonus the first time you craft a specific item and a slightly lesser bonus for the 2nd, 3rd and maybe 4th item.

So I imagine it would be wise to collect as many recipes that you can, both basic and advanced, and the materials needed to craft a few items of everything. For every school, just as much as you can manage. This should fill up the crafting exp pool very nicely.

Then you can spend the exp by working on the crafting schools you actually want to use. This is the easier part, actually filling up the pool is the most time consuming.

There is definitely a bonus for the FIRST time you craft an item, but I do not believe there is any bonus after that unless you make exceptionals. I'd agree with Vodalian, in that creating a whole bunch of things that you've never crafted before just one time would be a really good idea.

More advice would be to get about 4 t0 5 Million crafting XP pooled up before trying any masterworking or enchanting. Your skills use more XP (per attempt) from the pool if the pool is large. This way, you will use far less silver or gold ingots trying to GM these skills.

I'm also interested in hearing some sort of confirmation on the OP's question. Along with the duration of said double XP for crafting.

    *edit* added more advice

Will Double crafting XP mean that mining nodes get double XP as well?

No. The Double Crafting XP is just for making stuff, not for gathering/mining/skinning/etc.

OH! Thanks so much for the clarification! That is hugely important to know. I guess I am going to be making a LOT of things. Especially first-time things!

A lot of folks were under the impression that this would include nodes as well. A lot of unhappy folks :(

So if everyone is gonna spend time at craft tables because the xp bonus is huge .... whos gonna gather stuff ? What happens with raw material prices ? What about miners , gatheres.. we should get double xp too . :( ... 2 x XP for gathering would have been a great opportunity especially for new players to get some craft xp as im sure most cant afford to spend to craft ...

This is not what people were led to believe particularly when throwing more money in to hit the stretch goal.
I urge you to reconsider this as this is a pretty big kick in the teeth for a lot of people.

I had hoped for double XP for gathering as well. This is really unfair. Why do Adventurers get Double XP but not all Producers, including Gatherers?

    @DarkStarr

Is this a joke? Why Gathering doesn't get double exp??? That was not communicated at Telethon.

There is a bonus for the first crafting (25times), the other degrade exponential (i think it is) to the Base XP

without exceptional (which is 5times normal)

    eg Simple Wooden Mailbox:
Base 20XP per crafting attempt! (you also get the XP when failing!)

    1st 500
    2nd 91
    3rd 83
    4th 77

also beware that batchcrafting in R51 (didn't check after that) cuts XP for 2nd and later attemps in half

Double Crafting XP is pretty much what I was expecting. Not Double Gathering XP...

Sorry, I don't really accept this.
There are two types of XP. Adventurer and Producer, Killing and Crafting, call them what you want. Previous doubles did not include crafting XP and we were told "this time" it would - the implication being that this would be a producer xp event as well and loads of people have been planning to spend that time mining, harvesting, farming ....even planning events to that effect. We didn't ask for a clarification because well, it seemed pretty clear, and I for one am pretty irritated that this wasn't ever explicitly stated until the 11th hour.

Crafting is taking raw materials and making stuff. Gathering is gathering raw materials. How can that be confusing??

I’ve been saving up all my wood to finally craft a piano for my house (and finally finished off my full instrument collection). That’s what I have been saving for all month. And Silver too. :D

It's confusing because the words "crafting xp" was used to describe the double. There is no crafting xp pool, only Adventure and Producer. Crafting xp is producer xp

Everybody's been stockpiling, but that's not the point. Gathering and crafting use the same XP pool, the skills level from the same pool, they go hand in hand. It never occurred to me, (and apparently to a lot of people) that there was going to be some fine-print-bs attached to this. I'm not going to quibble over definitions with you, just state this is an utter utter disappointment and as far as I'm concerned, broken promise.
