    There needs to be a button on the website where instead of increasing my pledge, I can donate money into a separate "tasty beverage of choice" fun for the devs.

    @enderandrew,

    Sadly, there are no Ultima references in Star Trek.

    The limitation here is that the NPC wouldn't divulge any information it's learned about/from you to anyone that isn't on your friends list or via other selective multiplayer logic and would obey ignore/blocklists. But that's not to say that an NPC might not tell you about some player that is on the same quest as you and is online at the same time so you can make a new friend and go adventuring together. It's a much more organic system to ask an NPC quest giver who else might be doing the quest than to spam zone chat with "LFG THRONE OF BONES QUEST PST"

    NPC: "Now that you ask, not that long ago a traveler named " " said that he/she was going to investigate" and "I think he/she is still in town"

    That would work for me - this means that I would have a name and go look for the player in the town - this seems realistic - can be a little frustrating if you can't find someone but then again

    someone can stand in town square and "yell" who is brave enough to travel to the dungeon

    Anything to keep chat less spammy

    Cool. How do they work in multiplayer modes? Presumably you will need more than one copy of each NPC companion, but we don't want 20 clones running around town. Will the game give each iteration a unique name/appearance (even though they have the same conversation trees)?

    In SWTOR, companions are a huge part of the game. Every Jedi Knight in the game has the same 5 basic companions however, every Trooper has the same 5 basic companions, etc. So you see repeat companions all the time. It isn't ideal, but having the companions beats not having them. I'll take the trade-off of repeat ones in multiplayer. Bioware tries to address the issue a bit with customizations for your companion's appearance so they don't all look identical.

    do we put taming collars on our companions? Like if I went up to the archer chick in the back of FireLotus' tavern, could I put a collar on her and make her my companion? Or do we have to pay them to do that?

    The online/offline option is the MAIN reason why I chose to pledge for SOTA. I have a LDR and one of the things we enjoy most is playing games together. Unfortunately, the worst part of EVERY MMO is the other players. Choosing to have a world that is just me and her was a huge draw for me.
    So with that in mind, I hope they give the attention needed to making it feel like a "whole" game no matter how you play.

    Companions were done very well in Old Republic. I don't like the idea of them being crafters though. Gatherers, maybe.
