What I want out of SoTA:

    1) Classic Avatar-games' sense of RPG wonder, adventure, and overarching purpose
    2) Open-ended gaming that offers choices and does not guide me ... too much
    3) Immersive game environment (and controls) that draw me in to want to be part of it.

The rest is about specifics. But achieve these things and it will be a great game for me.

    What I want from SotA:

1.) Great story like in Ultima V - VII.
2.) An immersive and big world with much interaction
3.) Some cool and big dungeons that brings back the Ultima Underworld feeling

Let it be a true Ultima successor :)

1 Old school dual scale RPG with modern engine and made with plenty of support for multiplayer from the ground up
2 Plenty of depth to gameplay as far as customization and speccing
3 plenty of depth to the way communities can build and grow in game and with branch out things

The main things I want are:
    1. Stop saying I'm the sole savior of the world when I can clearly see 50 other people saving the world and killing the same baddie as me. There is something to be said for a storyline that makes you a part of a greater whole. The GM run events of UO in years past come to mind (I remember being called upon to *help* defeat Blackthorn - not take him down single handedly).

    2. Open world - thankfully already confirmed.

    3. Persistent, in world, housing similar to UO - also already confirmed.

    1. Polish. What I want most is polish. I want combat to flow smoothly and feel right. I want towns and cities to have intuitive layouts and enough open space to promote gathering places. I want there to be emotes that are subtle, like how when drinking I might take just a sip from my mug instead of throwing the thing back and chugging it like in the Edelman emote. I want the world to feel just as much like a place where you can just hang out as it does a place where you can go on a grand adventure.

    2. I want an economy that is driven by player crafters. It sounds like this is the goal, and that's exciting. Making crafters the cornerstone of the economy plays a big role in making crafting feel worthwhile, like something you do because it's valuable in a communal sense and not just because it's required to get your tier 15 helmet.

    3. There has been a lot of talk lately about the rares market, but so far all of that talk has had to do with items that have been acquired through Kickstarter promotions or pledge rewards. I would very much like to see an effort on development's part to create an organic rares market by retiring item spawns in game from time to time. Maybe make these pseudo randomized in the first place. For example, for a few months maybe a meteor shower could occasionally push pieces of the broken moon out of the moon's field of gravity and down to the planet, only players have no way to know when or where the pieces will fall--or maybe the players don't even know what the shards are in the first place. Players can then find those pieces, and when the meteor shower ends, so do the spawns.

    1. The same feeling I had when I first played Ultima VII and Ultima Online: the immediate feeling I was part of something special. (In other words, a credible world and atmosphere with tons of exploring, stories, attention to detail, customisation...)
    2. No forced pvp. This includes not having resources etc... only available in pvp hexes or as loot after killing someone.
    3. For once please, no immersion-breaking things. For example, I hated all the XxLordKillALotxX idiots in UO because they completely ruined the atmosphere of the world.
At least a way to remove those names from my screen or simply block those people.

1 - I would hope that they keep it running on all three platforms. I like that this game brings Mac, Linux and PC users together.
2 - Seamless environment. Part of what made UO special is that you were always totally immersed in a seamless environment.
3 - Decent character generation and portrayal. The avatar is what represents me in game, I don't want to run around seeing my face on a thousand other people.
4 - Interactivity with surrounding objects. This is already in place but for me what is critical to the success of the game is the ability to use most of the items around you in one way or another.

If you mean the place by the Skara Brae / Britain / Yew crossroads, that was just called the Hedge Maze. There were several buildings inside. :)

    1. A struggle. I want to feel like I'm in danger.

    2. Non-combat-based character & story progression.

    3. The virtues & their inverse.

Virtues are a crutch for those too scared of embracing chaos. :p
