Where are some good spots to go

Read the PvP megathread. They said the open PvP maps will have the best mats overall.

They've also spoken out against PvP-specific gear.

 

I really like this!

 

I read it, they said the same mats will be available in PVE areas, just more abundant in the shardfalls.

And I also did read about possibly having PVP upgrade mats there too, they certainly won't be where the only source for PVE mats will be.

Please point where they've ever said there was going to be PvP gear or PvP-specific mats.

Hi lollie. I don't think that it is determined or not that there will be separate PVE or PVE bonus gear. I truly hope that it won't be the gear that will be the major factor in our combat ability anyway. Then we will be like other games in that. Regarding mats they are said to be available in PVE lands and PVP lands, but but perhaps with the element of risk maybe be more abundant in a risky area.

Yes, that's what I said. As for PVP gear, who knows, all we have is that quote I linked above.

I am not in favor of PvP specific gear because it creates a divide between the two different play styles and creates artificial barriers for users which want to do both.

 

I would agree, but who knows what they plan with this. Maybe it's just mats to make some potions or something, so not really rare and wouldn't take a part time PVPer too long to gather what they need in a flash.

 

I am sure many have already answered this but just looking at the specs in game (hovering over an item):

Epic (is greater than) Augmented (is greater than) Player Crafted plate.

Epic is available from mob drops and chest loots (more drops the last couple of releases than loots), augmented is sold by the dealer to the east of Lord Enmars guard station in Owls proper, and player is made by players.

Also check out repair kits from the same plate dealer, some pieces are cheaper to repair than re-buy.

 

If crafted gear isn't the best available, that will be disappointing...

 

It very well may be once the game is released, but in Release 13 (and before) it is not.

 

They have said repeatedly that at launch, the best gear will be crafted. But I assume that is taking into account magical enchantments that you add. The basic crafted gear likely will not be the most powerful.

 

Correct me if I'm wrong, please. But, leveling and crafting at this stage is simply learning the game and mechanics. Nothing we craft or do in-game now will be saved or carried over into post-launch.

 

Correct, with the exception of the Grand Tour Quest, which unlocks a hat you will have at launch.
