    This sounds soooo good. But they need to improve their graphics and hopefully they do not use too many assets from the Unity asset store!

    Looks cool. I just wish the SotA guys and the Underworld guys, and the Shards guys could come together and serialize their effort and make one modern Ultima at a time instead of splitting the development resources and backer funding across different projects. I realize each project is targeting a slightly different genre, but right now, to ressurect the franchise I would love to see one modern Ultima where development efforts and resources are combined. :-/

    That works for me! :)

    EDIT: I should say that works for me as a start. I'm a fan of the UO as well as earlier Ultimas, and I backed SotA mostly because of my UO nostalgia. But, in this ideal world where development efforts are serialized I would have totally backed an epic single player game first, with the expectation that an epic MMO-like game would come thereafter :)

    I've pledged. More moderate as I did for SotA - money is finite after all - but at least I'm on Legendary Hero pledge level + $15 international shipping :)

    I dont feel the need to back a single player game, I am not attracted to the single player world, I like seeing and meeting new people, plus I am not sure what the deal is with this sudden craze over graphics that are 30 years old, but honestly its not my cup of tea, I love the virtual beauty of a modern day graphic and I feel that the graphics have come a long ways, 30 year old graphics for me are fond memories....of 30 years ago, I do not have the need to go back and revisit them, any more than I have the need to go back in time and look up my first love to see how she is now, I prefer to look back on those memories and remember them just the way they were.

    I think the graphics issue you're talking about has more to do with setting expectations based on budget constraints. I think unfortunately making super beautiful games with cool special effects takes more artistic development, and software development than can reasonably be put into a game with a budget of 5M or less... Could be wrong though :)

    Just backed it myself at th $75 level. I'm all in. Can't wait!

    Between Shroud of the Avatar, Underworld Ascendant, Wasteland 2 and Torment Tides of Numenera (and a few others) its been an incredible year for old school RPG's, I feel like a kid again

    Not really sure why you had to tell us that....I could counter and say thankfully I dont have to worry about everyone fighting to change it to pvp or dumb it down enough to make it an mmo.

    Other games are generally moved to the Game Room in the Fire Lotus Tavern sub-forum, but I hope this thread says in General Discussion for at least a day or two for visibility. If nothing else, Ascendant is doing shared lore with SotA and it looks like a cross-promotion item, so it is directly SotA related.

    I dont want a dumbed down MMO, Ultima Online was and is a beautiful MMO, I dont know if its been dumbed down by now it may have been, but for the 13 years that I was with it, it was definetly my favourite
