Community Events for November 7

Greetings Community!

As some of you may be aware, we gamers have a chance to help sick kids on Saturday, November 7, by doing what we do best: playing games!



Extra Life is a 24-hour video game marathon to raise money to help kids at Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. All the money raised for Extra Life will go directly to the Children's Miracle Network Hospital of your choice.

Now I'm not asking you to start campaigning yet (although that will come). What I'd like to do first is get our awesome community together and make a full day of events. 24-hours is a lot of time to play a game, but I know we can host more than any player can do in one day! So let's do it!

If you have an event you'd like to sponsor, let me know. Events will begin at 8am Central on Saturday and run until 8am on Sunday.

I'd really like to see things that players new to Shroud of the Avatar will enjoy: Gustball, Welcome Quest, stargazing, dungeon runs, anything!

More news will be coming soon about Extra Life 2015!

I want to reserve a spot for an event on behalf of The Caverns. It may be a special charity edition of The Shape of Things to Come, or something else I can devise.

Still looking for more events; anyone who is willing to run something or wants to plan an event for 11/7, please let us know! Its a Saturday, so there should be a Church of the Darkstarr service and PaxLair Working Hours going on.

Here are ones I'm thinking of doing:

• Shardfall Free-for-All: A PVP mob where everyone dies and the points dont matter.
• Book Jam: Potential authors read from their books to the adoring crowd.
• Hometown Cribs: Visit the well-decorated village of Hometown and discuss some of the better house styles.

Anyone else have thoughts for fun events that Extra Life players can log into SotA to see?

I'd also love to do prizes; I'm planning to stream in some way (Google Hangout or Twitch), and I have a full set of Steam Trading Cards for SotA that I can give away. I'll try to come up with additional prizes as well.

I see you have the church in there already and for that my sincerest thanks. We will make this service a very special one. With that said, Avatars Radio as well as my live stream channel on twitch (not rize up) are at your disposal and service.. anything for charity. Would even be happy to offer my video editting skills if needed You name it Jayson, consider it done!

Thanks! I definitely wanted to sit in on a church service, so I'm glad this fell on the right day. I still need to figure out what I want to use to stream, and I'd love to be able to have guests. If anyone wants to join me for a segment, that'd be great. Any shoutouts on Avatars Radio, NBNN, or anywhere else would be great.

I would be glad to assist the event held by bear's And host an event time slot with the new player assistance guild. We will host for an hour the current hat quest runs/poker style... so even if you have completed the quest you will still want to come and get your poker cards with a chance to win a prize...

(recommendations for possible events)

a) skill building
b) deck building
c) pvp 101 instructions (might be nice to have that before the 1v1 pvp tournament)
d) class on hunting areas per your lvl (ie if you x lvl hunt in these locations and at y lvl you should hunt in these locations)
e) fishing competition
f) first annual triathlon (run around a city x laps, swim around and island x laps, and finish with a race across novia)
g) light up the welcoming tour. have a sign up sheet somewhere for any town that wants in (hopefully one of each biome)
h) a gathering items identification course (ie show players where and what each resource looks like)
I) a farmers market/crafting demonstration
k) a decorating contest. ( 4 identical houses with 4 identical items in a box 30 mins to decorate) brackets determined by how many people sign up. like the mystery ingredient cooking shows lol
l) an old fashion tavern/bar/pub crawl
m) 1 hour dance party
n) cross crountry race on the overland map start in slysium and have to end up in malice or rifts end or norgard
o)

 

I'd love to see any of those. We will be at the Bear Tavern from 12-2, but I think having a how-to on deck building, combat basics, etc would be great. Maybe a Gustball intro, sometime before the game. A second run through the Welcome Quest, the Novia Academy, and the monthly Hat Quest would be great too.

We have an extra hour to fill! This year, the time change happens on Nov 7, so Extra Life goes for 25 hours!

Here is some additional information about Extra Life, how it was founded, and what to expect:

 

In what time zone?

 

Beats me, I was just going based on what the Extra Life site says. I looked it up here, and it shows it ends on November 1. /shrug Not having to stay up an extra hour is fine with me!

 

Oh could someone write me up on a list somewhere and remind me mid October? I could easily run an event unless I'm traveling.

Perhaps another Avatars Radio Race can be slipped in during one of these time slots. If you have anything still open. If Woftam is up to setting up another track, they seem to have gone off rather well the last 3 we had (the last one being during the autism awareness event on Saturday)
