Please support it and be sure to play it @ 720p for the full dynamic range of sound! (Youtube has been screwed up today and is playing in mono low bit) :) Its the gear on the right corner of the video or alternatively you can listen to the soundcloud version for high fedelity.

    Hi all,

Some of you have privately asked what "darkmoor" is from? When I was younger, I ran two BBSes in california around 1983-1986 of which one of them was called "The Druid's Keep" the listing here http://bbslist.textfiles.com/805/ At this time I was a SID composer (Commodore 64) and later a module composer on a amiga computer http://amp.dascene.net/detail.php?view=14333&detail=interview

The term "Darkmoor" came from two things. It was a fantasy name I used mostly for the BBS, a side kingdom of sorts to "The Druid's Keep". I also created a song years ago called "The Fall of Darkmoor".

At this time in my life, I was heavy into ultima 3 and 4 to be specific. Good times and my 2 favorites of the ultima series. As you'll also see in my amiga musican interview awhile back I was a big ken arnold fan :p

So their you have it! Some fun history of long ago.

    Best,

You are VERY talented. I really enjoy your music and seriously hope that the DEVs bring you in to the audio fold, so to speak.

Scott, I noticed you've been cranking out music lately, and I'd like to recommend a single thread where all of your works can be found (like a "Scottlee's Music Contributions" thread). Going back and forth to listen and compare things is a bit difficult. Very good music though :)

Here are a few releases of my original soundtrack cues. It isnt Shroud of the Avatar related but nontheless hybrid scores you can gage my style.

Be sure to click on the gray gear on the bottom right of the video window for full fedelity and stereo playback! Youtubes player has been playing very low quality as of late.

One of the old favorites of mine I wrote in 1997 for the video game "Summoner" when I worked at Volition Inc / THQ living in champaign illinois. :)

    Thank you Gabriel!

I can do all styles of variants of musical contient depending on the tempo of level design. I love to weave a story imersing the player deeper into worlds. Music is the catalyst binding an emotional bond between player and avatar!

Alot of what I have created for this project is just a sonic pallette for me to massage ideas and concepts. Ill go full steam in creation once Mr. Garriott is ready to dive into the musical side of SOTA.

Glad you enjoyed the tease tracks and I do appreciate the comments and thoughts!

    Greetings!

While this is not SOTA related,

I have a very special treat for those old time gamers. During my 23 years of music composing, I got a chance to work with one the best in the industry. In 1997 as senior audio director / sound designer working for Volition the game company, we created tech demos, one for "Summoner" and another for a game later known as "Red Faction" for a pitch to THQ Inc.

I had the pleasure working with Frank Capezzuto in those early project, which now works at Bungie Inc on titles such as Halo and the hugely antisipated "Destiny". This video will be the first time our work is showcased together in over a decade! Check it out.

Also did an magizine interview about 9 months ago on my past history, life, and Volition (I also mention my Ultima days) if you havent checked that out.

I just finished building the new music studio and am excited about some amazing work coming down the pipe. stay tuned!

Terrific music, really top notch. Besides melody, you've got a great sense of timbre and tonal structure. I really like the arrangements, not an easy task when you've got not only the full orchestral pallete but the boundlessness of electronic sounds.

Thank you Mugly Wumple! You have an ear sir, as you know electronic sound can dynamically spead threw a mix creating muddy sounding instruments on a mixdown.

How I like to explain this to my clients, imagine a packaging box. You have a amount of limited space in all directions within this box. Music and sound is not "limitless" dynamically! Freqeunces need to share and live within space you provide, so if you toss junk in or not determine proper usage of this space, you will therefore, lack the room needed for full storage capbilities. This is also true for a broad sounding, dynamically pleasing score.

A soundwave can oblerterate (especially electronic) freqencies so we do get very surgical with the engineering on this types of cues. This is why sidechaining, pumping, ducking, shelves, etc are so popular with music these days.

Scott: Nice to see that Spoony used this piece in his video - Trials of the Avatar: O' British Where Art Thou? Hopefully, this means there's a good chance we'll see some of your excellent work in the actual game itself :D

Thanks Gabriel, glad you enjoyed the music. :)

Spoonies videos are hilarious. Everytime Lord British was getting clobbered, I was expecting a "This is a Paladin!"
