Just tried some of the alcohol buffs on QA I don't think this is completely implemented yet but here are a couple of observations.

Alcohol still seems to be counted as part of the food 'channel'. I thought I heard Chris say there would be separate drink 'points; from food 'points' but maybe I made this up. What is the current plan here?

Whiskey did not give any buffs but intoxication for me, so probably not implemented yet. But assuming some type of drink will continue to give this effect (people would probably be mad if it went away entirely) PLEASE GIVE US A WAY TO REMOVE THIS EFFECT. Removing the accompanying buff with it is entirely fine but I was not able to right click and dismiss it and I kept the whiskey buff no matter how many other foods I at trying to get it overwritten. So shroud needed to be minimized for 5 minutes with each whiskey test. :)

Also once these changes are complete please document somewhere the logic as to what foods overwrite what.

    Thanks!

I suspect the idea is you can't just instantly sober up; if you're gonna get hammered, you're stuck with it until it wears off. Not saying that's good or bad, but likely why you can't just dismiss the effect.

I suggested a while back and I think a dev 'liked' the idea.. but here it is again..

Let us remove food and alcohol buffs by using the /puke emote

would be amusing, but that's a store purchase having a gameplay effect

That would be an interesting potion... Wake-up Juice.

Also, the lowest level beer being the Fishing bonus is just wrong. We need a Fish Wine to do that instead. Components gathered during fishing contributing to a fishing bonus; I know, novel.

One of Richard's original concepts was over eating, or too much of a drunk effect, would make you puke and delete some of the buffs. Probably the only way to do it without buying the emote.

    Here is my current observations:
    • Farmhouse Ale: +4 Strength for 1 Hour (1 pt)
    • Edlemann Beer: +4 Damage Avoidance for 1 Hour (1 pt)
    • Harvest Wheat Beer: +1 Move Speed for 1 Hour (1 pt)
    • White Table Wine: +3% Spell Critical Chance Bonus for 1 Hour (1 pt)
    • Red Table Wine: +30 Focus for 1 Hour (1 pt)
    • Brittany Ale: +5 Strength for 15 Minutes (1 Point)
    • Drach Bock Beer: +5 Damage Resistance for 1 Hour (1 Point)

I got 6 active at once, no significant intoxication visual effects impairing game-play. After typing /stats, Intoxication Level is noted to be 0 - not sure if this is intended or disabled for testing purposes. All alcohols seem to have a relative intoxication level stat. Possible the intoxication system is being looked at to impar the player in other ways besides/as well as visually?

Noted that you can't stack up on the same alcohol for cumulative effects :(

This seems intended so that players will consume something more approaching a complete meal (drink or two, food buff and maybe a snack or short term beer buff that can be consumed more frequently, but has a stronger effect. So far I am very happy with this concept.

I think Chris was saying that whiskey would be more for producers, I do have a suggestion in this respect:

Rum should have a sea-faring association - please make low tier rums the fishing alcohol. Here are some suggestions in this respect:
    • Clear Rum: + Freshwater Fishing level
    • Gold Rum: + Bait Recovery Chance
    • Dark Rum: + Fire Fishing level
    • Navy Rum: + Saltwater Fishing level
    • Spiced Rum: + Fetid Water Fishing level

Then perhaps higher quality rums could have potential more pirate-leaning effects.

Also I still think we need more cooking recipes and potions that use alcohol. It shouldn't just be for drinking.

    Also,

Can a link be created between a special mug or goblet or etc we are holding and the stack of the drink of our choice in inventory? Essentially treat mugs & etc. as a tool that points at a consumable you have dragged onto it? If the stack runs out, then maybe when the character drinks it makes the "eeeeewwwww" noise from skinning or something. :D

Love that idea .. also thinking we have outhouses and have suggested several times they could have a proximity effect on nearby planters... but maybe they could also be used to remove a buff or #2 ;)

Why is Brittany Ale only 15 minutes, but everything else is 1 hour??

None of the whiskey have any new buffs yet(?) from the tooltip.

Paladis White Wine +0.5 Magic Fizzle Chance for 1 hour (what the hell?)
Perennial Red Wine +5 Intelligence for 1 Hour.

Brittany Ale is stronger than Farmhouse Ale - you want the better buff, you need to drink it more often.

    • Farmhouse Ale: +4 Strength for 1 Hour (1 pt)
    • Brittany Ale: +5 Strength for 15 Minutes (1 Point)
