Fair enough! But if mounts don't make it into Episode 1, we've got to consider 'slow' movement speed, since otherwise mount-speed increase would be overkill in Episode 2 ;)

Plenty of us not in the "new generation" that would like to see a faster pace of movement.

Not addressing you in particular Musaab, but there is a tendency here to assign ideas regarding ease of play, game speed, etc. as "instant gratification". While it's true that some players will just want to "gimme gimme gimme more lootz more quickly", most of us just want, generically, a better playing experience.

One person's immersion may be another person's pain in the ass.

How true! On the one hand there is a faction totally opposed to the overland map because they want to have a seamless experience walking every step of the way from one end of the world to the other. On the other hand many want to have as much instant travel as possible from one place to another. EDIT: sometimes I wonder how many people belong to both factions :)

You can't please all of the people all of the time.

For me, the game is not too slow paced.

    Both factions!
I am serious. One thing dosen't negate the other.
    But thats OT.

I am of the camp that I am in no rush to play. I want to be able to enjoy this game 20 yrs from now. Many of the gamers rush to the endgame, get bored with the content because they raced past it, and move on. I did not pledge as much as I did to just race through everything. IF you want fast pace, and instant travel, that is fine, just dont complain about lack of content or that you are bored.

Lack of speed dosen't compensate lack of content.

I keep forgetting about those. I normally just press the NumLock key and let the machine do all the work. I just hold the mouse and navigate. It works quite well and compensates for the slowness you see with walking.

The speed of the character duplicates walking over terrain that could be rough, uneven, uphill, downhill or impassible.

What makes you think that? Maybe right now, as nothing is balanced or polished, heck we have not even seen all the content.

    Sure:
You advocate for a slow paced game, as is your right.
But in my opinion your argument is flawed.
A slow paced game just dosen't compensate for a lack of content. It dosen't matter if the game is fast or slow, if there isn't enough content there just ins't enough content.
Mind you, i am not for makeing an FPS out of SotA.
All i am saying is the distribution of towns, dungeons and scenes as it is at the moment makes traveling a pain in the....well you know where. So, again in my opinion, there are two solutions:
    1.) speed up travelling
2.) even out the distribution of scenes

I agree, and as a matter of fact, I think they should decrease the size of the avatar on the overland map, so the scale fits better and you get a better sense of scale and distance... Then they won't need to do anything about the speeds... ;)

You're going to have a hard time convincing me that labeled, cookie-cutter, 8x8 sq ft. instanced hexes with tree walls I haven't seen since Duke Nukem is going to pass as "exploration" while random encounters on a mediocre overland map will constitute "discovery".

And while I feel it's slow paced on the overland map, I think it's more to do with the fact that I'm just bypassing stuff that's "beneath me" trying to get to meaningful content. Since it isn't seamless, I have no need to hop in and out of loading times to experience what little to no meaningful interaction I might find therein.

Ya, I don't know what to say to you. The overland map has been a staple in most of the ultima games, and was in the Kickstarter video for shroud also. We all knew what we where donating to. One of the reasons why I did is because of the overland map. I guess we just have to agree to disagree.

Or they can make getting to the meaningful content quicker. That's an option, too.
