Apart from the three larger lots to the north, and a few Water Lots, the housing in Ardoris appears to be entirely comprised of Row Lots.

Clearly this is a change of plan, that has only developed, since Row Lots were added. I'm a bit disappointed by this. I was thinking that Ardoris could be a nice spot to claim a Village Lot.

Perhaps there will be Village Lots nearby?

What else have you noticed, on the new Ardoris map?

Is anyone volunteering to transpose the ciphers?

(The new maps are gorgeous, by the way.)

Just wondering how we get here. and will we get to explore any of the rest of the mainland from here?

That the lots are staggered a bit make me think they are village lots. Are the row lots not the very tiniest center-city lots shown on the northern main island and the far southwest, and the remaining majority the village lots?

I also see two town sized house boat lots to the south east, two city sized boat lots for barons to the south, and four duke/keep-sized water later lots to the SE and SW.

Well, I shall take a stab at reading the runes.

At the top we have the Tempest and the Rage rivers entering the map.
At the bottom is The Great Sea.

To the west is the Palace of the Mountain, and to the east is the Palace of the Winds.

The center of town includes (Counterclockwise from top):
    Sabine Artworks
    Ardoris Center
    Granite Armory
    Realtor
    Bell Book and Candle
    Guild of Arms
    Merchants Guild
    Ministry of the Lotus
    General Store
    Schneider Tailoring
    Moon Tower Tech Office
    Poets Circle
Sequanna (statue in the middle of town)
    Peladjar Inn
    Ardoris Carpentry
    Crafting Pavilion
    Oracle Confirmation

    To the Southwest is:
    Waterfront
    Tavern of the South Wind
    Shipwrights Guild
    Ardoris Imports
    Guard Barracks
    Digits Curiosities
    New You
    Fletcher

Ardoris is a water city like Venice so it makes sense not to have larger lots. Space is at a premium there so they need to keep it tightly packed.

Well, there was no apparent problem putting big properties on the small 'created' islands off the coast of Kingsport.

I don't mind if more of those created islands are packed with Row Lots.

The problem is that Ardoris is a quest and trade hub. One of only a few.

Any Lot owners, from Citizen to Knight Marshal, and higher, have lost the option to place there, unless they take a Row Lot and lose all the advantages of the Lot they pledged for.

The Higher pledges are pushed out by the lower pledges.

    Ouch.

I suspect you'll use the moongate to get there, although I guess they could put up a 'boat' or something similar to get you there. I don't expect to see more than Ardoris on the mainland.

I agree looks like a great map.
I think it would make a great town for Markets to place a vendor and sell goods.
I wouldn't want to place my main residence here though. Just my thoughts

Definitely like these maps. I wonder how they'll function in-game, like being able to turn off certain labels, or to annotate them, etc.

    And for the runic challenged:

There are a few larger water lots if you get in quick enough ;)
My point was that the design of Ardoris is trying to convey a particular atmosphere for a particular place that has a particular story behind it. As soon as you add other lot types you completely change the urban aesthetic. Also, Portalarium determines where we can live, not our wallet size. If this is a crucial hub for quests then there is most likely a large amount of narrative associated with it and I personally don't want that to be influenced by monetary entitlement.

All lots except the water lots, keep lots, and castle lot are row lots. I think you're mistaking the NPC roof lines for smaller lots near the city center. If you look at the Ardoris screenshots, only row lots are visible.

Also, I think there are 5 Baron water lots, 2 Lord water lots and 2 village water lots. As the Duke island castle is being redesigned to reflect the larger lot, I don't believe those lots are being represented on this map, yet.

    In total, I count:
    • Approx. 175 Row lots
    • 2 Village water lots
    • 2 Town water lots
    • 5 City water lots (seems disproportionately high, as these are only for Barons)
    • 2 Keep lots
    • 1 Castle lot

I would vastly prefer cities and towns to represent the feel and lore behind them rather than just catering to the convenience of those who paid to get preferential access to trade hubs. Walking into Owl's Head and seeing multiple castles and wizards towers just blows my immersion in every Release, I'm glad to see that kind of thing being limited.

I agree on the necessity of some tows/cities to have a lot of raw houses to get a cosmopolitan feeling about them. It wouldn't hurt to have some plots with wizard towers between them XD.

Will the bridges be tall enough to allow ships to navigate trough them? xD

The smugglers of Kingsport have a boat that offers passage to Ardoris now. Thanks to the stress of the current situation (i. e. "we're in Alpha, wave your hands and say a wizard did it") no one actually talks about this, but it is there.

There is also lunar rift travel but that has... complications...

None of the overworld for the mainland is open this release.

I like how we're at a point where we're calling "the world where basically almost everything will happen" the otherworld. :p

With Ardoris chockers with Row Lots, the expected normal mix of resident Citizens, Edelmenn, Knights and Lords will be missing. Ardoris will be full of Ancestors.

It will not be a good mix. It will be an 'unnatural' balance. The 'natural' order is for the larger lots to be generally closer to the town centre, with a few Row Lots sprinkled here and there, just like OH.

We are swamped, suddenly, with Row Lots.

Rather than shoehorn them in, to trade hubs and quest hubs, they should be placed further out.

    Get outta town!
