Are the reagent plant pledge rewards working correctly?

I just got around to test growing a garlic using a reagent plant pledge reward, not knowing how it was supposed to work.

After a day the seed had grown into a garlic - nice - so i doubleclicked the garlic and it went into my inventory.
Ok now what, was I thinking - how do I regrow another garlic?
Oh, it seems the garlic pledge reward behaves like a normal seed, that only has a chance at being respawned upon gathering the finished product.

That doesn't seem like the way the rewards were supposed to work.
Or has the intentions changed?
I have searched but not found anything about this.

I've had the same experience with my mandrake. I planted all 4 and got about 36 mandrake back, but no new seeds. I was wondering the same thing. With mandrake seeds only costing 12 gold in Kiln (as I recall) this doesn't seem like much of a reward.

It seems the intent is to try to get some rewards in with a minimum effort instead of living up to its premise.

So in that specific case I think that it is by design but not like it was advertised.

Which means that I've put up a vendor which sells torches and pitchforks and is hoping to make a quick buck soon.

It would be great if these items were more like the artisan chest and had a different decorative look (more like the decorative potted plants sold by NPC vendors) than just looking like a part of farming.. That way, they could be placed inside buildings (I am thinking of row owners, here) and would have a greater value than regular agriculture goods because they do not require sunlight or special ground types to grow.

EDIT: Even better if these were small! Like a table top plant. (That would look lovely on a piano or as a table centerpiece!) Shandy has a miniature plant on his cart that I have been eyeing for some time now!

 

This will go great for the protest we're starting over here. It will all culminate in Brittany once that exists!
