So when I learnt that by doing this quest I would end up with a couple of shiny new items attached to my account.......well I couldn't resist throwing a video together.

So this is a walkthrough so everyone can get their very own Statues of Virtue and of Chaos.

Darn it. I guess this is why I am having some trouble getting into the 2nd palace...... Anyone know the individual that gives the correct working password to the Shogun?

Ask Samuel, the quiet spirit-talker in the inn.

He must like you better. I did that for about 30 minutes, there was no wearing him down - or his partner either:rolleyes:

I forget exactly what I did. But after maybe 3 interactions with him he said something like, "I don't need your password" and he opened the gates.

The keyword is not password. Use the same word the gate guard asks you about, something like token? Can't recall, its been a few days. Just use that keyword with Samuel and he will tell you the password. You must then go back to the guard, ask him to open the gate, and use the phrase as the next response (when he actually asks for it).

The password is "steel", I believe.

Finally got them a big thank you to everyone could not have done it without your help :)

I did visit the Shogun first , i did not need a password just typed in my name and i think open ?
Than i went to the other and was asked a password , i did get it from Samual from the inn close to the bank so not a long walk .

So dunno if you visit the Shogun last you will be asked to go to Samual ?

I'm sure it should open if you type "token" and then "hilt". I know it's worked for others, didn't work for me so there's probably a bug somewhere.

I first asked the other spirit talker for the "token" and he told me it was "bolt" or something like that. Back at the castle, the guard told me that that was not the correct token, so I went back and talked with Samual. He told me a different word. I think it was "blade" and the guard let me through with that.

"Hilt" is the answer you get from the other spirit-talker. Being the kind of person he is, you shouldn't trust him.

I think that each spirit talker knows the password to different castle? If you go to one first, you will need password (token) to the other. So there are two tokens, one for each castle, but you need only one, because you are free to enter the first one.

First, I'd like to thank all of you for the help. It was great fun trying to figure out how to get in. Following your advise(s), I visited the guards again and tried the Budner method, the Envy method, the Kara & Jayson method. It lead me to the inn as prolonged conversation with said guard proved unfruitful. :( ONLY OPEN THE SPOILERS IF YOU WANT TO BE BORED.
Me: (to Erin ) Hail, Erin

Erin : (to you) I do not know of what you speak.
    Me: (to Erin ) bye
Erin : (to you) Please stay out of trouble, Me.

Unfortunately for me, not only did I visit the Queen first, I also spoke to Kardan first,
Kardan Marbane: (to Alaina Post) So I said to this ghost, "Look, just because I'm a spirit talker and you're a spirit of the dead doesn't mean I'm interested in what you're saying!"

    Me: Hello.
Kardan Marbane: (to you) Yes, how can I help you, new friend?
Me: (to Kardan Marbane) I'm looking for a warrior. Are you one?
Kardan Marbane: (to you) I'm not sure what you mean.
    Me: (to Kardan Marbane) Warrior
Kardan Marbane: (to you) I'm not sure what you mean.
Me: (to Kardan Marbane) I need a password
Kardan Marbane: (to you) The Queen's password? Of course, it's magnolia!
Me: (to Kardan Marbane) ......Shogun's password?
Kardan Marbane: (to you) The Queen's password? Of course, it's magnolia! Quite gruff, the Shogun. No sense of humor, really. Luckily he still recognizes the soundness of my advice.
    Me: (to Kardan Marbane) advice
Kardan Marbane: (to you) Don't wear heavy armor. It chafes.
Me: (to Kardan Marbane) ah, I don't have that problem
Kardan Marbane: (to you) I don't understand. Could you explain?
    Me: (to Kardan Marbane) Magnolia?
Kardan Marbane: (to you) If you say so.
    Me: (to Kardan Marbane) Queen?
Kardan Marbane: (to you) Ah, the Priestess Khasi, a vision of beauty! You should go visit her yourself. Tell her I said hello.
    Me: (to Kardan Marbane) hello
Kardan Marbane: (to you) Yes, how can I help you, new friend?
    Me: (to Kardan Marbane) help
Kardan Marbane: (to you) Well, only the Oracle knows what is next in store for us, friend! However, if you are planning on an adventure into a dangerous necropolis, my rates are very reasonable!
Me: (to Kardan Marbane) no thank you
    Kardan Marbane: (to you) Hmm.
Me: (to Kardan Marbane) well, thank you for the help
Kardan Marbane: (to you) Well, only the Oracle knows what is next in store for us, friend! However, if you are planning on an adventure into a dangerous necropolis, my rates are very reasonable!
    Me: (to Kardan Marbane) bye
Kardan Marbane: (to you) Until next we meet, my friend!
which made Samael jilt me until I dumped Kardan.
    Me: Hello.
Samael: (to you) Hello. (returns back to nursing his drink)
    Me: (to Samael) I'm Me
Samael: (to you) I do not know of what you speak.
Me: (to Samael) The Shogun's palace guard
Samael: (to you) I have found being too enmeshed in politics is bad for business.
Me: (to Samael) Yes, he said I should ask the warriors in the taverns for a password
Samael: (to you) So you've been to see the Shogun, I see. Well, if you really wish to see the Queen also, then you will need the password. It is rose. I see you have already hired the services of Kardan Marbane. I would never question your wisdom in such a decision, but the nature of Necropolis prevents more than one spirit-talker from entering. You will have to tell him he is fired before I will assist you.
Me: (to Samael) ......I didn't hire him
Samael: (to you) I do not know of what you speak.
Me: (to Samael) I'll go fire him
Samael: (to you) I am sorry, I do not know.
    Me: (to Samael) right
Samael: (to you) I am sorry, I do not know.
Me: (to Samael) bye for now
Samael: (to you) Farewell. (returns to his drink)

Kardan was a bit dense but finally did agree to being dumped
    Me: Hello.
Kardan Marbane: (to you) Yes, how can I help you, new friend?
    Me: (to Kardan Marbane) hire
Kardan Marbane: (to you) I don't understand. Could you explain?

    Me: (to Kardan Marbane) rates
Kardan Marbane: (to you) My friend, normally I would charge at a minimum nine thousand gold sovereigns for my services in such a dangerous place, but given the nature of your errand, I, the great Kardan Marbane, will gladly assist you with the only price being a favor to be named later! Now, I’ve got to go ahead of you down the Coast Road to the west. You follow first thing in the morning, make your way to the Necropolis and we’ll rendezvous there!
    Me: (to Kardan Marbane) yes
Kardan Marbane: (to you) I don't understand. Could you explain?
Me: (to Kardan Marbane) Kardan Marbane
Kardan Marbane: (to you) That's me, the legendary spirit talker!
Me: (to Kardan Marbane) spirit talker
Kardan Marbane: (to you) You’re looking at one right now! I can speak with the souls of the dead just as easily as I’m speaking with you right now. If you’re needing a guide, all you have to do is ask!
    Me: (to Kardan Marbane) guide

Kardan Marbane: (to you) It's a city FULL of the undead, and very dangerous. You will need a very experienced spirit-talker to be your guide!
Me: (to Kardan Marbane) How do I fire you so I can go get the password
Kardan Marbane: (to you) The Queen's password? Of course, it's magnolia!

upon which point talking to Samael gave me......the queen password. Another prolonged conversation ensued and finally we reached the moment when he finally relented and gave me what I needed the Shogun's password. Had to mention how the guard was being stubborn about the token.
    Me: Hello.
Samael: (to you) Hello. (returns back to nursing his drink)
Me: (to Samael) I fired him
Samael: (to you) I hate to point the obvious out, but you have to actually hire me before firing me.
Me: (to Samael) I mean the other dude
Samael: (to you) I do not know of what you speak.
Me: (to Samael) can I have the password now?
Samael: (to you) So you've been to see the Shogun, I see. Well, if you really wish to see the Queen also, then you will need the password. It is rose.
Me: (to Samael) no I need the shogun's

Samael: (to you) So you've been to see the Shogun, I see. Well, if you really wish to see the Queen also, then you will need the password. It is rose.
Me: (to Samael) the guard asked for a token
Samael: (to you) Ah! So you saw the Queen and now the Shogun is worred about you. Tell the guard pike and he'll let you pass... for all the good it will do you.
    Me: (to Samael) pike
Samael: (to you) I am sorry, I do not know.
Me: (to Samael) ok, thanks so much....
Samael: (to you) I do not know of what you speak.
    Me: (to Samael) bye
Samael: (to you) Farewell. (returns to his drink)

Going back now with the password, I finally proved myself to Erin the Guard and gave him the said password. Whereupon, he said, alright, you can pass and flipped the switch to open the gates. Victory!! (and 1500 exp too)

    Only, the gates wouldn't open.

However, being persistent helped. I was determined to open those gates. So I decided to talk to the other guard, Willhey. And low and behold, open sesame.:D
    Me: Hello.
Erin : (to you) Greetings, Me. I am Erin .
Me: (to Erin ) I have the token
Erin : (to you) You know the token? Speak its name! You're just guessing!
    Me: (to Erin ) pike
    Experience awarded! (1500)
Erin : (to you) You're better than I thought! You may pass.

    Me: Hello.
Willhey : (to you) Fair tidings, stranger. I am known as Willhey .
    Me: (to Willhey ) token
