Captain Cugel and the disappointed Noobs

Maybe you want them to be disappointed, if so, no XP for delivering a report from Resolute to Ardoris, and only 20 coins, seems like a good way to do it.

 

We've removed that quest from the game. The turn-in is left for those who still have it in their to-do list so it can be cleared.

Hopefully it will be replaced since the reward at the end was nice.

 

We're going to add a quest with a similar reward that will involve returning to Highvale and dealing with the bandit threat.

 

Cool. I have a bit of a.. *ahem* vested interest regarding anything that affects the traffic near Captain Cugel Trying to keep 2 vendors stocked with scrolls and noob gear near the New You vendor/Captain Cugel in Ardoris.

 

I thought it was pretty funny having previously experienced Cugel's attitude near the start of the Love questline, and I think it's important to have a variety of NPCs, so having one that is supposedly on your side but also clearly an a******e is good. The reward for completing the quest (i.e. going back and saying you'd delivered the message) was very good for a new character I thought. In summary: I think simply killing more bandits is boring in comparison.

 

It's going to be a bit more in-depth with that, we're adding some courage virtue quests to the area in general.

The problem is mainly that it's confusing for brand new players to head off to the other side of the world as one of the first quests they encounter.

@Lum the Mad, having now done the next step, getting back to Resolute with the reply and getting 2x as much XP as expected, I have to say it gives the great feels after the big disappointment. I love it now, not for noobs. I hope you still use the technique elsewhere.
