Crafting materials you'd like to see

This could be a long list, but just off the top of my head,

For weapon hilts:
- Bone
- Ivory (whether elephant ivory, walrus ivory (historically also called "sea-horse ivory" or "morse ivory") , narwhal ivory, unicorn ivory, or from whatever other source is appropriate)
- Horn
- Jade
- Mother of pearl
- Coral

For ornamenting gems:
- Amber
- Opal

Other materials:
- Limestone
- Sandstone
- Birch bark
- Sandalwood
- Alabaster

 

Stone and clay for furniture or other decoritve statues or items

 

At some point.. and I'm just throwing out possibilities..

Rubber (for what who knows).

Avatars from Earth will eventually arrive with the technical knowledge and skills to incorporate modern knowledge in crafts to a limited degree. Assuming that New Britannia has rubber trees.. rubber doesn't seem too far fetched. Nor does it seem it would require modern facilities to process.

Rubber-making would probably be handled by the same skill as tar-making and handling other types of wood resins, gums, saps, etc.

 

Added alabaster to my original list Shell could also be a crafting material.

 

Personally, "Wool" is the most obviously missing resource at the moment, considering all those sheep hanging around.

Perhaps its use would be "+Cold Resistance", but incurs an "Itchy" debuff.

Rocks and sands of varying types (would be a nice extra harvested mat perhaps)

Lots of stuff I'd like to see...just depends on what we'll be able to craft. I feel like bears should have some meat on them along with many of the other creatures...

 

I'm still hoping furs from different animals be distinct, so we can create unique items like bear skin rugs and wolf cloaks, etc.

 

Very true...I forgot about those options...I remember my outfit from LotR that was quite warm and gave me a buff in cold weather...Would be cool to have these options....And different looking outfits and armor are always a plus!

 

Needle and thread with some silk thrown in. I'd like to sew me a pretty little silk dress or two.

 

Two Words: Body Parts!!!!!

 

Craft-able shirts, cloaks, dresses, skirts, and pants. Where each of the main panels / components is individually crafted. Better still if we could control dye and patterns for cloth, which then is reflected in the created clothing.

We should be able to craft banners and standards. Imagine a parade of standard bearers for the POTs and guilds walking down the main street of Owl's Head.

 

You should not be able to craft those. You should be able to take them. What would be the fun in crafting those? Not that I ever intend to participate in such activities, but still.

 

ever wonder where bone armor comes from? or the skull sword? Lots of stuff should be made from body parts and would be a use for corpse trophies besides decoration. How many heads and hands can you put in a chest in a corner? Lets find a use for em.

 

Oh! And here I was thinking more Frankenstein or a trophy room.

 

Well there can be many uses, alchemy, cooking, what every is clever hehe, but those I used would be liked by most I think.

 

I just want what we have to work, and I want to know how to get "Smoky Bark" and "Pine Tar"... I need this stuff really bad...

 

I'm going to make a coat with Lord Baldrith's beard hair.

 

Would be a fine coat indeed, and probably make me a better orator as well!
