How about a nice plushie Lord British that talks??? Other Rare concerns: How about truly rare items and rare monsters should be a part of SotA. Totally absurd in some of the other games going into a city seeing the max levels all decked out in gear that is supposedly rare that they picked up off the supposedly rare enemy.

I'd rather see "Make-It, No Find-It" items. Repay for skill in crafting. The craftsman gets an edge a sword-monkey has to pay through the nose to acquire! The economy drives the scarcity.

I agree with AC. BOD Deeds or extremely rare monster drops. Something that you really need to work for to obtain. Other wise they become pointless.

I had read somewhere that things that could be equated to 'rares' on UO would be able to be bought through the store. Things that did not give any tactical advantages but gave cosmetic options. I believe the example they uses was a feater hat that spun around when you moved a certain direction. Just an example Im sure but that kind of thing.

No Neon crap? I can see you played UO, but not Ultima VII, in Ultima VII (the best Ultima ever made), the animated glowing stuff is the powerful magic stuff, if it isn't animated and glowing (neon), it isn't magic.

no neon crap! I agree, it murdered all immersion for me

As for rares, do NOT make them only rare monster drops. To sorta quote our Lord, why must we be fighters to get the rare eye candy items? What's wrong with having monthly/daily spawning items that we have to hunt down? Isn't that just one more amazing thing to add to the world? It's been working in UO for 15 years now and the eyecandy rares market is GROWING in UO still.

Give us our pointless eye candy items that we do not need to slay a dragon for!!

BK and Derium - my profile pic is offended

Did they make Energy Vortex purple an actual color after the exploit? I wonder if I still have any in my bank account.

Make stuff the first year that will never spawn again too. Of course I always like gifts on the holidays. Who knew a lump of coal would be worth something later on?

Agreed... no neon crap. When everything is overly bright and colourful, the actual rare cool stuff is undistinguishable and is overpowered by the brightness of everything else.

I also like the idea of server-up rares as uber rares :) (For example like the covered chair in UO or the pillar statues). Easy to implement... and it helps encourage people to explore, not just fight or craft.

I'm not that into rares myself but I recognise that they are absolutely vital to the longevity of a game. Not everyone wants to PvP or PvM, some people just like banksitting and decorating their house. So I say yes, rares please.

I don't know if a classification system for items fit with the design of the game... LB has said many times that the game is not going to handhold you. Sure I think there will be more excellent items, but will they be identified by the tags common, uncommon, rare, etc. I doubt it. I think you will have to figure it out yourself...

Haven't heard this for sure in the dev chats - it is only my speculation based on what they've said so far.

I would like to see rare weapons larger than the normal ones, and of course, with awsome visuals.

I agree that neon items suck, but adding cool visual effects (like flames or something) to SOME of the more powerful items sounds reasonable...

I agree with keeping rares as unique, hand crafted items just like RL.

I am tired of reading [WTS] Dorain Dagger of Instakill (unique rare!) from tens if not hundreds of users or auction house listings.

That is neither unique nor rare.
