Falling Damage Seems High

Jumping down a short flight of steps that I could easily clear in real life inflicts about 1-4 points of damage. If I can withstand a good chewing from a cave wrasse, I can jump down a short flight of stairs without severe shin damage. Just my two cents....

 

On the other hand jumping from Port Mirren's highest village lot to the valley below does 327 damage

 

That seems closer to reality. ;-)

 

Falling off the docks into the water does 184 points of damage. Will post a screene later.

EDIT: Added Screenie to the bottom of the thread and it was 184 not 186 points of damage.

 

I agree, the falling damage scale seems to be a little out of balance.

 

I heard there was falling damage so I went to try it out. Uh, mission accomplished, I guess! >_> This was off a tower on the wall of owls head. What caught my eye later was the "45 points of damage" shown in the chat beforehand. I have no idea what that could have been from - I don't remember jumping or falling off of anything shortly before this. So, yes, something may be out of whack here!

Thanks for being so receptive DS. In case you haven't heard from the SotA parkour fans in a while, we're all wishing for a feather spell to reduce the punishment of practicing high jumps.

 

I like the falling dmg where it stands. Few points here and there on smaller but steep jumps and death when jumping from the roof of your house.

 

Legenis, as it stood you could almost drop from a couple of stairs and take fall damage. That is kind of ridiculous, really... imho it shouldn't apply in cases less than 2x character height, and significantly more if jumping/falling into water.

 

It was funny and mildly inconvenient when you respawn in 45 seconds... will be considerably less funny when actual death mechanics are in place. I agree that jumping off of house roofs is something that shouldn't be encouraged, but, even after all this time I still have trouble controlling my character and frequently fall off ledges or stairs. (not unlike real life for me.. lol)

 

This would be less of an issue if the game was built like other games where you are jumping and take fall damage - ie., you slow down near a ledge or can grasp the edge if you slip.
