?

What are your thoughts on the current teleportation system?

  1. I like the current system - zone to one house, teleport to any and all friends

    7 vote(s)
    10.1%
  2. Since we can teleport to all our friends anyways, add multiple house binds

    17 vote(s)
    24.6%
  3. Remove teleport to friends. Keep one house bind.

    26 vote(s)
    37.7%
  4. Only allow teleporting within a regional zone.

    19 vote(s)
    27.5%
  5. Allow POT's to activate a moongate for 30m per day for easy travel for events at cost (Guilds too)

    9 vote(s)
    13.0%
  6. Make teleporting cheap and easy and convert control points to something else (guild warfare?).

    11 vote(s)
    15.9%
  7. I don't care.

    1 vote(s)
    1.4%
  8. I like Ninja Hamsters.

35% like the teleport or want more. 45% don't like it and want less, 20% love hamsters. :)

Honestly, we would be hard pressed to find any new player that cares either way. People mostly have opinions because it changed.

Forgive me, @Phydra - but I'm not clear on what you mean by that ^^^.
Are you saying travel IS or ISN'T currently "an arduous thing" ?

    Actually 0% don't care :p

And only 20% like the system as-is.

I think the rest of the results are good - they're saying people want easier teleporting or they're saying they want less (or maybe a lot of those votes are from the same people and they want it to go one direction but the current solution does not support the proposal of regional economies).

I'm completely fine either way. But if we DON'T care about regional economies then we may as well allow multiple binds to people. If we DO care about regional economies then the teleport to friends as-is completely bypasses the idea of control points.

Me too. Although I would prefer zero teleports simply because I think the game needs more consistent depth of experience. If everything is optional, then there is no value to anything.

Seriously, PvP, PvE, gathering, crafting, exploring, multiplayer, housing, economy, team play, control points, leveling skills, and all of the above are optional. What the hell is left?

Where would you have them look for data on fast travel in regional economies?

I would agree with you there....

I didn't vote because I had 2 options I really wanted to select in addition to Ninja Hampsters. Sorry i just couldn't narrow it down.

Basically copy Mark/Recall from UO, because that was absolutely perfect.

I'm honestly shocked that Quenton "NoZone" the Mage wants to bring mark/recall back! What happened with the "just walk"? :p

This is real magic we're talking about now. It's my specialty.

Remove bind points. Remove personal teleportation.

Add more lunar rifts. Free, easy to use, no cooldowns, lore-friendly, perhaps one in each region.
Enhancement: obey the lunar cycle, or manipulate it using skill-based magic of some kind to set your destination (lunar rift).

Some good ideas here. To expand on it, maybe lunar rifts should also be accessible from the overworld map so that you don't have to load up Owl's Head to transport. Same effect like the Kingsport/Ardoris boat, just a quality of life change.

The overworld rift idea is highly convenient but can limit the experiences we can have since you can't really do much on the overworld. It sounds ok on the surface but I don't think we've thought through all the consquences and side effects it may have in putting them there. I'd be surprised if the overworld boats remain as-is, especially with the Shipping Lanes feature coming post-wipe.

Alternately, the lunar rifts could be their own scenes and would be fairly quick to load as they wouldn't have housing. This would also give lunar rifts unique areas to explore in various biomes.

So the standup notes gives that they have now been working on a two way Friends list.
Darkstarr have also mentioned that the current 'follow' version of Friends list is going away.

    @Lord Andernut
Which means that the issue will be reduced but not solved.

If the goals are to 1) foster regional economy via limiting fast travel and 2) foster player events with easier fast travel, Solstar's suggestion seems to accommodate both at once? A heavily laden character would need to hurry to the nearest bank or just throw away goods to get under the friend teleport limit, but that would take little enough time to work fine for events. I've not seen arguments against Solstar's solution, or why it would not work well yet?

Interesting. If you add remove teleport to friends and only teleport within regional zones you get a majority (63.1%) who don't want teleporting to friends outside your regional zone.

    I voted for Ninja Hamsters.
