    YES YES I know all about turning gama and brightness up. Its nighttime way to long. I don't like playing a game I cant see. If you enjoy a dark game use sunglasses. Havent you ever heard of SUNLIGHT.

    Night time is way too short. It only lasts all of 7.5 minutes every hour of gameplay. Seriously, why is the sky bright pink between midnight and 3am? Is there some lore based reason for this?

    Anyways, if the in-game brightness slider is insufficient, they can perhaps increase that range further --- provided you've also already done the same to your monitor's brightness/gamma setting as well. But what we really need is something like this:

    I would like to get rid of the night spell and go with Night Vision Goggles..........it goes well with an FPS.

    I like the nightvision spell better. goes better with this RPG.

    and it seems like the ambiet lightnignf or torches and the Light spell may have been bumped up a notch so its easier to see with either of them active

    Honestly I don't think it is the game, I think it is you rig making it to dark to play. I have no problem at night playing.

    I had something to say about this topic. Now the only i can think about is Pink Fluffy Unicorn Dancing on Rainbows :(

    <rereads the thread>

    Oh yes; to me it's currently hard to distinguish between night and day. From the nights of the first releases (dark and full of terrors :D). I'm thinking about what we have now as "hollywood film nights", in which you can see the stars in the sky but everything is bright. For me the current problem is the other way around.
    The forums, where you don't need to aim (for now :D)

    Until Portalarium creates some references for us to match no one will know what night and day should look like. I've fiddled with monitor/graphics card/game controls enough to have created all the above scenarios - too light and too dark and whack colors.

    I do feel like the light inside some of the homes was better with this release.

    The gamma isn't a great solution, as it also increases the brightness of bright things, causing well lit scenes to wash out. I'd love to see a slider for minimum ambient light to the game, and allow it to be somewhere near 70% of daytime light. There's so much of the game that is mostly black on my computer, even when using the light spell.

    The latest patch has dimmed the light given off by the dark elven buckler. Curses!

    The gamma corrected image is the baseline by which every asset in the game is coded/rendered against. If you increase the gamma so far that it blows out the gamma corrected image, then it will blow out all other assets as well. If it doesn't, that would mean there are assets in the game that have been improperly created and /bugged. The whole point of the gamma/brightness sliders is for you to normalize your setup (in-game settings as well as monitor controls for the same) to match the correct lighting as intended. So whether it's an ambient light, brightness or gamma or <whatever> slider, we need this normalization process. For whatever (unknown) reason this game appears to be all over the place vs. other games on the exact same system (many users reporting this).

    And how do you know that wasn't the intention, for you to not see certain things? We actually don't know the intent until they implement this feature. We're all just guessing, blaming either our setup, or the game, or the design -- but we don't know which is which. Whatever allowable ranges at either spectrum they allow can be configured on their end but likely not beyond some unacceptable artistic or game design decision.

    Personally this isn't a problem for me. I'm able to see everything just fine except for night time. However I do suspect that if they make this game too bright there will be a whole lot more people complaining about headaches and eyestrain.
