Help Find My Pants

So I log off yesterday afternoon. alone and unmolested by mesmerizing thieves in Beran's Reach. I'm flagged PvP at the time I log off. My backpack is loaded with stuff - regs, food, clothing for other decks, misc. items, etc.

I log back in and EVERYTHING is gone. What's more, the pants I was wearing are gone (insert Budner joke here).

Where the heck is my stuff?

It is a really massive PITA and costly to restock my backpack with all this stuff not to mention replace my magic pants (insert another Budner joke here). I feel like rage quitting.

Bug? Exploit? Any ideas?

 

lol well not in my house Budner, that was in your dreams j/k. You should post a bug for it. Strange things have been happening in this release with the changes that were done to help performance. I think in the long run it will be a good thing because they say it will make some things easier, even if I don't know what those things are since it is all techy stuff, but hopefully it will be a good thing. In the meantime best wishes and no you cannot quit the game. *shakes fist*

 

When you logged off, did you wait the 20 seconds or just force-close the client? If you waited then you should contact support. Also, the safest place to log out when PvP flagged is the world map.

 

Not 100% sure but probably force-closed the client. Should that matter? Either way my char should disappear in the game after I log off, right?

 

BTW, I sometimes can't find my own pants, so I'm really no help in that respect.

 

Is your mojo still intact?

 

Your avatar will remain in-game until the timer expires. If someone attacks you (mesmerize) then the timer is reset.

 

How long is the timer? 20 seconds? I don't see how dozens of items can be stolen in that period of time. Not to mention can people steal stuff you're actually wearing? Like your pants? WTF?

 

Did you check the Price of the Oracle to see if your missing stuff was stolen? Press Keypad .

 

Well, if the 20 second timer is reset on mez as @Barugon suggests, then perhaps it's possible that a pickpocket can chain mez you and drain you dry as long as they wish?

BTW, I also agree that the safest place to log out to avoid this exploit is the World Map because no combat nor pickpocketing skills work there and no exploit will keep you in game after you log out.

Dont think this has something to do with a PvP kill. Sounds more like Account hacked or something. They can kill him in 20 sec but this one kill doesnt give them that much items.

 

Yes, they would have just kept pick-pocketing.

 

There's a timeout for that too. I'm not sure what it is but it's certainly less than 24 real world hours. Once that time expires then the thief/PK gets your stuff.

 

Is being robbed recorded in the /stats log?

 

I thought it was 72 hours to check but Xeen has informed me that it's 2 hours to decide or you lose the stuff. There is no log message that I know of to tell you what happened. So much for debugging...

 

Did you check the bank to see if it somehow got dumped there? If your stuff is missing, we can help figure out where it went...

 

Thanks @Berek. No, the missing items aren't in the bank.

The way I figure it is:

1) If the stuff was stolen, that meant that I was completely cleaned out AFTER I logged out AND the thieves were able to actually steal things I was WEARING, or
2) If the stuff wasn't stolen, it has disappeared into the ether due to some bug/glitch.

Either way there's a design issue to address.

This was maybe 150-200 total regs of 8 different varieties, maybe 3-4 food items (corpion claw and garlic spider if I recall correctly), maybe 4-5 each of recall and teleport scrolls, iron leggings +4 I think, a holly wreath hat +1, a cloth gambeson shirt died sparkly black, a kilt and maybe a few things I'm forgetting like a keg of beer and maybe a wench or two.

 

I think the explanation for missing something that you were wearing is that you were probably killed after you ran out of stuff to steal.
