Here's how you make it so we don't care about running around the tree when chopping

Make us go faster while we do the loop.

We run everywhere. Run us to the chopping location.

    Complaints.... disappear into the past....

EDIT: @kaeshiva has now saved me much time and frustration by pointing out (lower in the thread) that you can easily figure out exactly where to stand on the trees so that you don't have to walk around them. I thought I should put this up at the top so new readers of the thread don't miss it.

Edit two: this IS possible with cotton. Look at the top tuft, run around it until it points directly left.

No more walking around the tree for me! Thanks kaeshiva!

Its a very annoying and time wasting mechanic for sure, the harvesting animation should just play when we are facing and in range of the resource node without the need to walk around to the exact spot.

They have said that the system can't handle that for some reason.
. But al least if it didn't take ten minutes to get to the other side of the tree...

I call nonsense on the system not being able to handle it. The maps are designed so that the avatars are always able to face the node, at the appropriate altitude, and can only face it from a certain direction, like ore in a mountain. If the game would only require the avatar to be a set distance away, instead of both distance and direction, then it could just run the animation and open the node.

It's not like the animations are super high fidelity and immersion would be lost. The immersion evaporates once your avatar starts derping around the tree anyway.

:) Run up to. Doubtless you were running the entire time in the scene, why walk the moment you click a node? It's jarring.

Nasty if you walk just into the aggro range of a near mob.

Yeah, I like that I can often get my pet to go handle the mob while I do the mining. Taming rocks!

Lol really? It can't handle this simple action? Well if that's the case, how do they hope to get things like ships and riding in the game with freedom to roam about and such? Ohh I think I just answered my own question...

Greetings all. I agree they should remove the positioning for chopping down trees especially for low level wood cutters. Just like in real life if you are in the wrong place when the tree falls you die. That would make tree harvesting much more fun to watch than do. But that is one reason PORT has you walk to a certain place before you start chopping.

There is a visual cue on these - on pine and on maple you always move to the same 'spot' - I've learned to recognize this location relative to where the lowest branch is - after a wihle its become second nature to me to just approach at that point. Cottonbushes are a bit trickier. =/

It would be nice if there was also a visual clue on cotton bushes. Those are annoying....

This animation sequence does get annoying. If it has to happen, can it be improved so that the animation speeds up to ‘normal’ speed?

To me, the most frustrating part is that the avatar suddenly slows down and saunters around to the exact spot.

Sometimes if there are obstacles in the way, like a branch, the AI also fails to take the most direct route (under the branch) and takes a slow giant walk around the obstacle to get to the other side when anyone in their right mind would simply walk straight underneath the branch (don’t even require bending to avoid branch - the branch is above avatar’s head).

Please consider killing the animation or make it better (normal speed, not slow motion, and smarter)

    My sanity thanks you!

Another edit in the top post, it is possible to know where to stand with cotton. The tuft at the top should be pointing to the left as you look at it.

I think its great that people have figured out how to circumvent a an absolute useless slow motion event while chopping trees and gathering cotton. Yes its a game and realism will have its limits. Bears, Wolves and other creatures have a line of sight attack. I really don't want to waste time killing the single wolf sitting on the other side of the tree if I can help it. I want to run up, out of sight, chop the tree and go to the next one. I'll kill the wolf if he sees me, but i would like that option. Now I run up to a tree and click on it.. My player walks 15 feet toward a mob and then casually walks directly the opposite direction and around the tree. Yes, I have also located the exact spot to quickly get a tree chopped down. Doesn't help with a wolf in the line of sight of that spot. It needs fixed....
