Story completed end of July, Launch later

Beyond the need for a way to complete the main quest line.

What we really need is...

About 10 different player vendor NPC options (5 male and 5 female) so that I don't have to see the Edvard clones anymore. I think this alone would make all of our player housing scenes look 100 times better.

Bonus if we get to dress them up ourselves.

 

They have put forth in previous videos the idea that we can take a vendor (need a female model) and dress them how we chose with existing clothing. I really like this idea since I would probably take a female and scantily dress her for more attention

If they go live in July the press will rip the game of in the air.
There are to much things to do to have it ready for release, or are we taking about July 2018?

July 2018 could be fine, maybe some Month before.

They made an SEC filing that says that's the expected launch date.
Chris is working on almost nothing but performance for next release.
The Rent System is coming online next release.
The Main Quest line is "playable".

I think we're looking at a July release. So get your bug reports in. Get your player vendors ready. Get your guild recruitment videos going. The marketing of this game is probably going to start up next month.

 

Where is the big marketing campaign that normally accompanies the launch phase of a game? Other games get marketing campaigns that last months leading to the release and SotA will launch in just mere weeks without any advertisement?

 

Presse, Bah. Was ist denn von der gaming Presse noch übrig? Als print kann man eigentlich nur noch die Computer Bild Spiele lesen. Und ich verachte diesen Zweig der Springer Presse. PC games, Gamestar, kannst du alle nur noch vergessen. 99% der print Medien in dem Bereich sind Schrott. Das selbe gilt für die Portale. Das einzig Gute das ich noch kenne ist Rock Paper shotgun.

 

The best thing is SotA will be including all sort of new things (already outlined in thier backlog) each month so going live really won't impact how things progress.

Are there things that I want in the game going al the way back from Kickstarter to now? (Duke heads, coat of arms, placing lot markers on docks, etc) Yes. I can wait until they build out the technology as I will be living in New Britannia for a very long time.

It is impressive that there had been very little downtime and the number of successful monthly releases.

I am excited for all of the wonderful Devs at Portalarium as this will mean a new chapter of success.

 

I think he means the end of July? The investment op is running until July 31st from the looks of things?

 

Which is the official release date of the game as well. It's stated in one of the documents.

 

"Launch" still does not necessarily mean start of marketing campaign. I haven't seem them actually say anything more then the story will be done in July 1 so they may call it launch but continue to polish until December and then start the heavy marketing.

They can survive just fine on their existing base until then.

As a reminder, they have stated that half of the pledging people with houses have not even placed yet. People discount the fact that people are waiting until official launch to play this game. For example, I have been in Star Citizen for over a year and have not played it yet, I am waiting for release.

 

Still waiting on five areas to be rebuilt in order to finish Episode 1, not including Blood River and Highvale Outskirts.

 

I'm surprised they'll launch without all the NPC cities uncloned, like Westend which is a completely untouched clone of "old" Solania minus the crypt and statue. No quests, no interesting regional touches and fewer NPCs than at persistence (recipe vendor was recently removed).

 

Well, it is still two month, and at the moment they pull off a lot of stuff in the releases.

No they did not say launch at end of July. They keep saying story complete only. We are not launching the end of July.

 

Whatever excuse it will be to avoid getting reviewed and openly criticized, at some point they will have to take on the criticism and escape the love bubble. All I said it is not there yet... in fact still far away from it, but that's just my opinion

 

We are not launching the game in July, hoping to do so around end of the year. We are completing the story of Episode 1 and launching that in July. This is what we've been stating for several months now and still is our current maintained development schedule.
