I actually like that I have to invent the idea within their ruleset. We count on them to manage the ruleset and make it somewhat interesting but, the players are what make it happen. Kinda a crazy balance.

I'm trying to ascertain how any of these last multiple comments are on topic?

The posts are showing how SoTA's housing is organized differently and with a community building aspect to them ... very much on topic

There actually has been a lot of discussion on other subjects - by some of the members that have posted in this thread - post your ideas and thoughts on those (companions, combat, siege mechanics, magic requirements, cooking, and there was a user lead video concerning taming)

Please don't insult my intelligence and justify being off-topic.

    You all have discussed:
    - sport betting, horse racing, fishing tournaments, wrestling matches, gladiator tournaments, casinos, gladiator tournaments
    - tamers could tame chickens
    - challenge your cities finest cavalry, against mine, to a horse race between our cities
    - insects - and have insect battles
    - A traveling circus
    - scavenger hunts
    - player organized auction

All of these fall loosely under player run towns.

The OP was about player owned housing and land grabs, and disgruntled paying customers. And they were glad SotA was hopefully going to be different. Not about player owned towns (which is entirely another huge can of worms) and shooting around ideas about what all you could do once you owned a town.

All of the comments I posted could easily have their own thread for ideas on player run towns, don't you think?

Quite awhile ago, Tarsilion posted a thread (in Housing) called Why the Needless Emphasis on Housing?

Pretty much the same as you're asking now. Nothing's changed much apparently, because you're expressing the same perspective.

You could talk about Archeage if you like - but the big difference - which is still on topic is that housing is being used as a tool for sandbox role play - very different from Archeage - which is primarily a means to an end

And in terms of a "land rush" - SoTA as a plan in place - also the nature of "how" housing has been acquired prior to launch makes it so that won't happen here.

In addition - it has already been stated that there will be housing on top of what backers have purchased ... hopefully that was enough on topic for you

    good night :)

    Two reasons mainly

    1
The devs have to create the world and maps early - you can't fight if you don't have a map to fight on etc. You can't have NPC quests if the NPCs don't have a world to live in. So housing got part of the dev attention early because it is part of the world building and has a lot to do with immersion and hardware requirements. By letting players go wild on using different houses and decoration they could find performance and mapping bugs early. (It is also a great way to differentiate pledges without going the hardcore P2W route.)
There is defintately less dev time to housing in r9 r10 and going forward.

    2
Because you are seeing a skewed sample of the forum potential population.
Right now you have a lot of higher pledge backers in the forums, you also have a lot of older members in the forum from UO times, you also have a higher commitment from RPers to forum discussions. These things combined means they will talk more about the things they see in their pledges and where they can RP when the game is out (guilds and all).
As the game is released a higher percentage of the "couldn't care less about playing house" crowd will get in and talk in the forums.

So remember that just because the forums are full of talk about X doesn't mean the devs are focusing on that.
Check out the standup corner and you will clearly see the trend of moving away from housing even for the design team. With the exception of LotM which is 10+ grand a pop, so completely justified.

What should the discussion be about? I thought we were solving the problem of land grabs and people being disgruntles about not having a place to live. The secondary message of the original and following posts is how will housing be different than Archeage. Should we be discussing how much better SOTA devs have it better than Archeage? Really confused as to the topic of this thread. Was it meant to be a negative rant fest about how housing and POT's will suck?

Every thread I post on will have a positive, creative idea on how to make the game better and how to get more people involved in SOTA, please dont let that upset you.

And by wager, I mean that we could wager a horse(or antiquity) that can be put on display at the other's casino as a trophy until it is won back!

Captain Jack can't think of many threads which has been created here with less tact than this recently. How do you guys, how would you, feel when other players of other games post about all of their issus real or not about SotA in their forums?

You should really re-think how you present yourself and represent Shroud of the Avatar. Know the saying think before you speak? Try thinking before you post, it can't hurt.
