Ugh, please fix. For Linux users this is a nightmare, during land rush :-(

    Same.

As soon as I'm scene master, I have a few seconds (some sort of a timeout) before experiencing what said by OP.

Been thinking about this while playing something else. I noticed that every time I restarted the game and resumed in Soltown I would see the Town Crier walk slowly across in front of me. Note also the thread about the black sky where I reported full scene illumination at midnight. Something that would explain both these issues is if some internal variable for 'current time' is being set to a specific value rather than the current actual time, client then measures time since last network response relative to this incorrect variable, notices it's a big discrepancy and so disconnects us. Meanwhile lighting is using the same incorrect variable, so we see day time lighting.

Ran into the same Pelican network error running around Spectral Foothills about 30 minutes ago. It happened once while fighting after I just entered, and then shortly after I re-logged in, died fighting, and then when I touched a nearby Ankh to resurrect it errored out again. Using patch 455, 64-bit client,Ubuntu Linux 14.04, GTX 750 Ti.

    Salut,
    Same here!

My concern is about how could we pick our lot???
My window will start in three days so if that problem persists many players and I will be F** up!
It will also confirm my very first concern about the situation on the Linux state. ("Did Portalarium anticipated that? and What will they do for these Players?")

I am asking Portalarium to put all their ressources to find a solution very quickly before it reaches a "point of no return".

Is there any players here that are already in that situation? I urge you to make your voice loud and clear in this post!!

This is a BIG issue. About to select my lot and I can't because of network congestion?

What's really interesting. I see network traffic go through the roof when I launch the client. Not at all normal. Instead of low traffic on my network, I see it spike and sit there maxed out when I enter a scene. Like Etceter.

    UPDATE.

After reloading the client multiple times, the network traffic seems to have settled down now. My network traffic looks normal while I'm in a scene. However it took several reloads.

    Perhaps other's can try this.

Sit there and let the client disconnect. Relogin after each disconnect. Just sit there. After the third time I noticed everything 'seems' to be normal now. No explanation that I can come up with (yet).

I think I can select a lot here shortly now. Crossing fingers :D

Did have some success last night with staying connected, as long as you are not Scene Master.

If you are alone or the first in a scene it happens every time for Linux, but if I went into a scene first (I'm Win10) then my Linux friend had no problems. Might be worth a try for lot placement at least.

Good luck Linux friends, this shouldn't be happening during the land rush. I feel for you guys.

Ok. I'm way off. Looking around and more testing. It looks like the problem is when you are alone in a scene. If there are other players then you are ok. Another thread mentioned this. And after a few more "network congestion" messages, I'm pretty sure this is what's going on.

So linux clients all alone in a scene = bad. When you have other's around, the network looks fine.

    UPDATE

Ok. Since I'm an hour away from lot placement, I'm updating my windows computer with the latest SOTA patch. If I crash again in Linux I'll need plan B ready. This land rush has forced me to the dark side. o_O

At least I only need it for a few minutes while the Unity team get's smacked!!

Like the crash-on-death (which made every death extremely meaningful for us linux users), I guess this is a veiled nudge by Portalarium to make everyone play with others. If it works on linux, they expand the program on the other platforms! :D

It's not mentioned in the Build Number 456 Patchnotes.
Not even in the known issues. :(

Same on Arch (rolling updates, so latest stable in all). Reproducable in single player online easily. Sticking to busy Soltown etc for now.

Definitely need smacking for more than a few minutes.
I'm assuming you mean the devs at Unity that caused this, not Portalarium's team that inherited it. I have (mostly) nothing but sympathy for the Portalarium guys that have to deal with this crap.
