New Britannian Logos, Words of Power

I didn't see this posted anywhere else on the forums, but here's a list of the Words of Power and their meaning. This was revealed in the R26 Hangout (skip to 9m 48s) several weeks ago.

What is a "word of power" in Shroud of the Avatar?

 

These originated from the original Ultima series:

Supposedly there is supposed to be a visual symbol for each as well, but perhaps he'll just re-use the current Runic symbols.

So in some future release, we'll be able to invoke magic using these Words of Power. When, how, or what mechanism, we don't know yet.

 

Do we know why we'd want to do that? Yes it's cool, but I doubt I'll be able to PVP by typing out words. What am I missing?

 

maybe it will be a separate mechanic for "utility" (non-combat) type magic?

i'd love to use these in singleplayer, but i don't see much use in multiplayer form the outset, especially for pvp where you gotta get it right and get it right fast, every time.

once the system is fleshed out more i may be able to get excited about it, more. until then...

I had added these to the Wiki page the day of the hangout. I have most of them similar to what you have, although a few are slightly different. I'm hoping we get clarification soon, since a YouTube screenshot isn't the easiest thing to work from.

 

I've gotta say - I'd much prefer to see these words above my head when I'm casting instead of those symbols. I've never liked them.

 

I'm wondering how they're going to do all possible spells with just that A-Z list... I don't see a water, just a cold for the ice, although the specific water spells we have now maybe don't need a word for water. I'm wondering how they're going to do lightning; a combination of wind and ignite? Or maybe that's the "burst" part of zephyr?
