Tons of thank you to those here who have answered my many questions and those in game as well!! I keep learning things I wish I knew!

T = auto attack. So yeah - who would ever? I no gave ever have I ever wanted this....but I accidentally hit 't' and watched my skeleton foe be chopped up! This is a GREAT command - and it let my fingers focus on combos!

Stillness - so after combat don't move! Put up your weapon 'z' and focus/health regens tons faster!

Now my new questions...
Crafting shows blacksmithing, tailoring, carpentry, cooking, and alchemy. yet I read the posts and people are enchanting, butchery, jewelcrafting... help! I was going to be a simple Tailor. That's it. I wanted to make my own cloak/cloth armor. As I started to look into it, there are like a dozen types...augmented, epic, fortified, Carpathian, plus to level, necromancy....very very overwhelming....most of the tips here tell us/me to go to 'sotacraft.com' but my work blocks that site so that's a no go....all I know is I am to "turn off my gathering skills, go gather, do that until I have 4 million experience in crafting pool, then salvage all cloth goods until I get to 100...#solost #confused #whatdoIdowithclay #istheretrulynoguides #hashtgeverything

An icon showed up yesterday that my weapon needed repair. I bought a repair kit and durability went to full...but the icon remained. bug?

I should/makes sense to put a - on all skills that I am not using right? Like I am currently not using obsidian arrow so I should put a - by it? Whats difference between - and maintaining?

IS there a death penalty? if I die have I been losing my xp pool??

Anyone remember the black dye tub in UO? Is 'true black' dye in the game? I want (have to have!) for my cloak....lol

Weapon durability is represented by two numbers, current and maximun durability. Both go down with use. Current durability is raised with repair kits, but will never go higher than Max durability. Maximum durability can be raised up to its original value with the use of a Gold Crown of the Obsidians (COTOs) and the appropriate crafting table.

You will need to purchase skills. Any skills not purchased will not train. Lower skills are found on any Adventurer Trainer. Higher levels skills are found on specialists. The - symbol means the skill will go down, maintain means stay the same.

There is a death penalty but it does not go into effect until your overall skill level (adventurer level) reaches 40.

True Black is in game but it is a purchasable item found on the Add-On Store. You may be able to find someone in game who is reselling it for in-game gold.

If you're a min/maxer or want to concentrate on raising skills then by all means look for advice on raising skills. Personally, I try to ignore the numbers and just play. I get along fine but I'm not going to win any contests.

 

The maintaining and - symbol mean two different things. Best to explain it while answering your other question; if you die you will loose adventuring experience. It will draw from the pool ..if your skill is set to - it will draw them from the skillpool and when you set it to maintain it will always try to get from the experience pool.

That's what people talk about if it's about skill decay. It will get higher and higher the more you progress into the game

 

How does one find our 'adventuring level'?

it parses everything if you type /stats in chat

 

if you don't want to download or use a third party app... you can do this instead

1. in-game type /stats in chat, this will record your stats in your chat log
2. in-game type /datafolder in chat, this will open up the datafolder folder window
3. in the datafoloder window, open chat logs and open the latest saved chat log file
4. in your chat log file, search for adventurer level

 

Concentrate on skills in your tailoring tree, but you will also need to learn enchanting under alchemy to make the most of it.

Most people turn off skills to do with gathering and refining once they've reached level 40 so that every time they use any of those skills it will add XP to their pool. The amount of skill gain you will get from using your crafting skills is proportional to the amount of XP in your pool. You will see increased gains once your pool is over 500 000, 4 million is nice but not necessary unless you want to level things up as efficiently as possible (i.e. crafting actual usable stuff can be more rewarding than scrapping even if it less efficient in pure numbers).

If you're interested in crafting come along to the Diamond Fields Grandmaster Tutoring Event this weekend where you will find an abundance of expertise.

It may be a bug, but it's possible another item you are wearing is also out of durability - check any rings or necklaces you have equipped.

There is a pure black dye available from the add-on store or obsidian crown merchants, not sure if that's the same thing (I didn't play UO).

Thank you @ShurTugal . That was a great video. I'm sure it will help a lot of people to get a handle on crafting and answers also give answer to other questions they might have

 

One thing that has always frustrated me was having to use my mouse to combine spells on the hot bar. I just accidentally found out you can combine spells by holding down the key and click the one you want combined before releasing. Most may know this but i did not....

 

In addition, you can hold one key down and then press the next to create a combo/stack - no mouse needed. Or you can tap "R", tap one key, then tap the next to perform the same.
