Performance issue

Hello everyone. I'm struggling with the game performance. I've searched google, but there seems to be no answer anywhere. My PC is quite good (i7 4790k 16GB GTX1080ti, I'm running the game on SDD), but the max FPS I can squeeze out of the game is 40 (everything on LOW/Fastest, 1080p; with max setting, it's 20-30). I'm now in the 3rd area (with the castle). Please, can anyone advise anything? Thanks in advance.

 

Have you tried turning off peripheral lighting in the game options?

 

I've tried everything. The thing is, nothing changes. Performance is the same even when I play in 1440p.

 

Try lowering the resoution and disable anything that runs in the background also example antivirus etc. are you playing in windows 10?

 

Win7. Nothing is running, except MSI Afterburner (for FPS). Lower than 1080p?...harsh, but I will try.

 

Aaaand it didn't change. 720p, everything on the lowest possible settings and I get max 40 FPS...and I'm not even in crowded area ;(

 

Funny that but honostly i havent a clue about win7 in the performance category

 

Try a fresh install is all i can think of at this moment as a last call other than that maybe its a driver issue,have you got the latest drivers?

 

Yes, latest drivers. I thought, that maybe it's the Steam overlay, but after disabling, nothing changed.

 

Try the client also from your account page,you can download it from there.

 

Will do. Btw, Steam says the game needs 22GB of free space, but my takes only 7.7. Is that normal?

 

Aye just to be clear steam uses a larger file download system everytime there's a patch or update,so if there's a 1,5 gig update in steam it can go up to 3-4gigs.Dont ask me why it does that hehe it was always like this for steam.Also you can link your steam account if you decide to play through the client so you need not worry about that,the only downside is that once you are linked you cannot sell your account if you ever decide upon that in the future.Consider joining the discord channel also plenty of helpful people around at all times

Malwarebytes is a good app for those blasted bitcoin miners.

 

Mining virus? Never heard of it tbh. I will check and yes all games run flawlesly (I can run Witcher 3, maxed, 2k, with mods and it never drops below 60 ;()

A mining virus will affect *all* games regardless so that probably isn't the cause since Witcher 3 runs well.
