Please Vote On Overwolf.Com and Help Get SOTA Supported By Overwolf

    Hi Everyone,

    Lots of guilds use Teamspeak as their primary method of in game communication, so I recently submitted a request to Overwolf asking if they could add support for Shroud of The Avatar to their Teamspeak Overlay software.

    I got an email back from them today, saying they have added Shroud of The Avatar to their "Vote for Support" page. This means that if enough of us vote for Shroud, it might soon get native Overwolf Support.

    Please help to make this a reality by clicking here and casting your vote.

    I'm sorry but I do not know anything about this software but I can tell you a recent experience with it.
    I have Steam installed on one of my machines.
    This weekend, I booted the PC and Overwolf auto installed WITHOUT my permission.
    (it may have been Steam that approved it but I did not)

    I immediately uninstalled it and sent a message to the support asking WTF.

    I have not received a reply from them but such activity seems to be similar to a virus or spyware.

    While Overwolf may be a legit program, deciding to install its self on a users PC is not acceptable to me...

    The only way Overwolf would have installed itself is if you clicked "install overwolf" in Teamspeak Lensi, which is not really without permission, since you are actually requesting the install.

    Erm no, its a voice comms overlay that shows who is speaking in Teamspeak, Overwolf has previously partnered with companies like Intel and EA.

    I would assume that could happen to some users.
    However, I do not and have not installed Teamspeak.
    I certainly did not click anything to install Overwolf and was surprised when it 'auto started' when the PC was booted.

    I looked into this and apparently Teamspeak have included the Overwolf install in recent client updates ( see patch notes ), Overwolf has also been bundled with software like Logitech Gaming Software in the past. This is not a thread about what you don't like about Overwolf or Teamspeak, so please lets get back on topic.

    I think SOTA averages higher than 700 players a day, also I don't think player base is a concern to Overwolf, they support games on a "most votes wins" basis, and we have a great community here, so it's worth a shot.

    Actually it is lower according to steam we only hit around 250 in prime US times... double that for non steam but the numbers have dropped from where they made the last announcement with 700...

    Hmm I know that there are over 60,000 accounts, I would be surprised if the number of daily players was that low. As well as the vanilla client, you also need to take into account people in other time zones like Europe, Australia etc.
    Also I'm not even sure if steam account privacy settings affects the hub count, so I would not put too much faith into that figure.
