    Hello all.

I was wondering if the game could benefit if they would ad NPC´s talking with each other once in a while.
So for example you pass the guards and one Guards says: Was that Myrcello? and the other says: Na - not ugly enough!

Maybe this would also help to get information without having to actually always click and start a talk.

You pass a cenery and you here 2 NPC´s talking about the Bandids in the North - that someone should kill them.
Or maybe one Guards always makes a joke about some beggar if he passes him.

Or you can here (read) npc talking about rumors in the tavern.

Incase that is already implended, i say sorry. Not that i realy noticed it.

If it only happens occasionaly i think no one would mind. And best is not in the chat but above the heads of the NPC.

The world just feels so more alive i think. Even if it is only unimportant "hellos" they give each other or talks about the weather.

    Take care.

Absolutely... I thought this was in the plan to eventually have in the game as one means to hear about areas to travel to for exploration or quest purposes.... I loved the NPCs talking in Skyrim for example... made the world more real as well as engaging....

I'd be very surprised if they didn't do anything more than just the simple barks that NPCs say to each other now. So yes, I would expect this to improve quite a bit in future releases. To ease the burden in having to write tons of dialog, they simply need to implement SmackTalk. Let the players tell NPCs about people, places, things, events, etc. NPCs can then relay that information to each other from what they've been told or observed directly.

That should be a selling point of Episode 2...
If you buy it you get the SmackTalk(TM) item that allows you to start rumors about anyone to any NPC besides nobility. If you pledge up to noble ranks then you get the NobleSmackTalk(TM) which allows you to spread rumors about anyone to any NPC including nobility...

    Now I can't wait for episode 2....

Several NPC's already do this, and as we continue to flesh out NPC dialogue, you'll see more of it in world. :p

edit: is smack going to be in the credits for such an amazing system?

edit v2: Do I need to have a new troll /troll BBCode added for me?

FireLotus means that NPCs already talk to each other (the taverns are the easiest place to observe this). We'll add more of that going forward.

Smack and I go back and forth on SmackTalk, as he well knows. Suffice to say that having NPCs regurgitate what players tell them means that NPCs will say, well, not the kind of things anyone would want them to.

it is just nice to know that this is already being implemented and will be expanded... it really adds a huge plus for current backers as well as something to highlight for upcoming Steam backers...

If it's the offensive things that would be easy enough to control: create a QC list that requires an inclusion of exclusive words (a dictionary of sorts) that we can use... and no other words. Then if we want to train the person about gossip we can talk about people on our friends lists exclusively (so the filter on acceptable names is used to be sure that crude terms aren't passed as names) and then the story has to fit within that dictionary of words. I see a crowd sourced dictionary coming on? Yes? Say the word and I'll see if we can find a group of people to help with that ;)

Would you like it in .CSV or .DIC? *nudges Lum to crowd source NPCs ;)*

    *THIS*

if it is helping to write dialogue and RP/back stories or anything for NPCs... *this* is something I would be strongly desiring to help in. There are several that do not feel they can do much, but being great RP'rs and wonderful writers.. *this* they could do!

I'm all for them accepting dialogue writing submissions the same as they would accept any other type of crowd-sourced submission into the game.
