You can assign skills to the hotbar after "buying" them from the Skill List ("L"), but not from the Skills window ("K"). This seems counter-intuitive; why have two windows? Why not just drag-and-drop from the Skill window, especially since I believe skills will only be assigned at a trainer in the future?

Maybe there's some future functionality planned that makes sense to have both the K and the L. If so, great. But letting us drag from K would be easier and more intuitive.

I don't believe with the deck system that you'll be dragging skills down to the bar. If so, I have another reason, combos and new skills that are being purchased but usable.

    Ditto!

I spent one hour(s) wondering why I could not drag my skills onto the hot bar - I'm sure that directions somewhere told you how to do it - but many people - like me won't read instructions to play

It makes sense for it to be one window and "draggable from the skills allocation window"

You guys know that someone would accidentally click the icon in the skill window and train it; then complain that they had to pay to untrain it, etc. I agree it's not the slickest interface but I also don't think it's the final interface.

Maybe - a simple plus/minus sign next to the skill ... and a confirmation button ... the mouse left/right click is good but like you said ... someone can miss-click :)

Intuitive interfaces are hard work - they have to be "me" proof ... lol

As I read through the "known issues" document, a good point was made that these will be replaced with the whole deck interface anyway, so this is really a stopgap to give us functionality (hotkey only) right now.

I also vote for the skill tree with plus/minus and only one window for skills. I was also confused about this.

Yes, it was a bit confusing not being able to pull the skills from the skill window into the action bar...

Yep I agree, should have just done an icon dragging thing. It isn't entirely placeholder, I'll explain

(L for list, as in deck list)

I imagine that we'll have out of combat skills that we can use from our combat deck that will be dragged and dropped the same way so it isn't entirely placeholder.

L will likely be used for building decks, and K will always be our overall skills window.

It's important to have this separation because we should only have access to skills in our current deck.

Yeah, went through this as well. I asked and people just said "drag and drop" and I couldn't. Then I was hitting keys on my kybd and eventually the list came up. I thought it was odd that I couldn't drag the icon but I could drag the typed word.

Hmmm don't see a problem here. One is the "talent tree" and the other is your character's "skill list". Is typical of other MMOs.

It felt familiar to me at least, and see no reason to change it. I'd rather not scour the talent tree looking for skills I picked. Perhaps another tab within that window would work?

Also a tutorial / user guide might help. It needs a little bit of work in the talent window to let us know that a skill has been selected. Should probably let us build up a spec before we fully commit points. I suppose that might already be planned.

They mentioned they don't want to build in-game tutorials and guides because it turns into wasted effort as things change for release. People just need to read through the instructions, and if needed, clarification or adding graphics to the out-of-game instructions might help.

One of the problems with the monthly Alpha release is it generates a lot of feedback that isn't useful because "This isn't how it's eventually going to work".
