So Many Patches

Hi Guys n Gals,


Please what on earth is going on with patch after patch after patch? My client is downloading 5 hours at a time and i cannot access the game - this is very frustrating - especially when i have just planted my first major crop - because i cannot access the game, i lose out on crop output in harvest due to lack of watering.... wtf? i thought it was going to be 1x major patch at the end of the month? its hectic for players in a low internet or pay as you go internet setup, alot of you may have free or uncapped services regarding internet service providers - in South Africa you pay your ass off for internet - please all im asking is bear this in mind for the less fortunate players who have spent $ on your game.

It's usually <6 patches till they start focusing on the next release. All within the first week and a half. Happens every month.

 

They need more people on the QA side, way more.
Right now they only have the Dev+ backer...

 

For what it's worth... these patches aren't very big and it takes me maybe 5 minutes to download the successive mini-patches. I'm not really even on wonderful internet, just basic cable. If it's taking 5 hours... something is seriously wrong.

 

well im on 1% after 1 hr tonight comming on at 10kbps - sadly - dont know if its my location or simply that so many people are dling the same patches... i have a 4gig/sec line and on average get 15mbps

 

You've either got a rogue firewall OR your ISP is plain throttling you... Check your firewall settings and make sure that the ports are open that the game wants open... After that... yea /angry phone call to your ISP for throttling you to like dial up speeds.

 

what would i use as open port and trigger port setting?

It is normal. When new things are implemented sometime it is an issue. Hopefully you can find your patience. I have been doing this since 2013. *has been working patience skill* . We are in development. and this release is really buggy. You can expect more patches at the start of a new release.

 

Steam or Launcher?

 

im using launcher - my firewall rules look fine both in windows and on my router

 

No, there's something wrong. Using either method I always hit about 17mbps and am done fairly quickly. Time to troubleshoot!

 

tested linespeed and currently averaging 8mb/sec so not throttled as far as i can see - i use netflix etc "currently off" so i dont think throttled - sometimes with Dling for Sota its Fast, most times with patches its super slow

 

Not using Steam because i have forgotten my login again - and if you know what a mission it is to get steam help with Account logins - you will know that im not particularly interested in using steam

 

Shame guys - sorry i am just frustrated - i am normally a very patient person and i understand the game is still in developement - i didnt mean to be ungratefull. Simply frustrated.

 

I open and close the launcher about 4-8 times till I get a reasonable download speed. Works everytime. Sometimes I get 10kb/s and then eventually 5+Mb/s. Make sure when you reopen it you let it start downloading for a min before you can tell what its going to settle out at.

 

Steam patchs the game 1000x faster then their crappy launcher.

Highly reccomend you run game through Steam.

 

Actually there are quite a lot of dev+ backers.. who report a lot of bugs..

 

Keep in mind Level 3 is having nationwide (USA) issues, so it could translate to slow downloads for services like Steam.

 

No need to be sorry. I would be frustrated too if the patches take too long for me. I have been using steam and haven't had to wait for long, though.

Hopefully someone know something that can addressed your download speed issue.
