Sounds

I thought perhaps a thread identifying areas where sound is wrong or lacking can be a central point for devs working on sound. I will start by listing:
1. Pick axe sounds are missing while mining.
2. Stone fist does not make a sound when thrown.
3. Wind sound volume is too high

 

My owl is growling at me. Most conserning.However my raven finally has got his bird voice

 

There are some out of control birds around the zone in for North Brighton woods, I have to turn the volume down until I can get past their nests

 

Oh and my siamese cat is left speechless.......might be a good thing really. However it might be nice for a cat to purr instead of meow

 

Breaking open gates at control points makes no sound.

 

Since they just got their full time sound guy I think all sound effects are getting replaced/worked on. I've actually heard some of the current placeholder sound effects in other indie games lol.

 

There is one particular sound used for close lightning during storms that just sounds like two metal trash cans colliding.

 

This is a little beyond the pale, but did you know rabbits scream? I was hunting in the Mojave desert with three of my cousins for rabbits. There was an old ditch dug out across the desert that ran for miles with the dirt piled up on one side. I stationed myself on the berm by the ditch. A cousin went down and stationed himself on the berm about a half mile down from me. My other two cousins spread out to my left parallel with the ditch to drive the rabbits towards the berm. We thought they would hit the berm and then run parallel with the ditch towards my cousin or myself. I hid behind a small sagebrush. Sure enough, they spooked a jackrabbit that ran straight towards the berm, made a right turn running full speed straight towards me along the top of the of it. Believe it or not, he got to my sagebrush (about 3 feet from me) and turned around to look at my cousins beating the brush in the distance. He was standing on his back two legs, panting from the run. Being only a couple of feet behind him, I could not shoot. I stood up quickly and yelled BOO!. The rabbit turned, eyes wide and screamed. It was awful. He then died of a heart attack on the spot.

Anyway, when the wolves kill the rabbits, perhaps a small scream would be appropriate.

 

These elves still sound like bears.

 

Oh great. I locked that guy away for this release as his zombie noises got on my nerves lol. Ill let 'em out now .
