Emotes :

- apologize (useful for healers right now ),

- beg (could be used by some NPC as well, beggar were part of the plot in Ultima),

- chilly (as we have seasons, our characters will suffer from cold),

- hot (just like the previous one, but conversely, and no, Budner, this one ISN'T for you)

- flirt (examples :

)

Also when laughing, I feel that my character makes fun of others. If possible, this should be changed in mockery emote and one should create a laugh emote more... consensual.

If Richard truly wants more than other games, start by taking a look at what SWTOR offers (including a huge list of mood/emotion emotes). Some of them just produce text but most have animations.

Here you have the animations. All SWTOR animations are not great, far from it. I find those from SOTA more inspired compared to them. But it is a good source of ideas, yes.

 

Tons of emotes were removed from the game I noticed. Few releases ago. Anyone keep track? I have a screen shot of before and after if anyone cares. The emotes taken out are many.

 

Most of those emotes were put on NPCs instead.

So it used to be that you started with lots of them, but now you need to get them from NPCs.

For instance if you ask Edvard about "health" he will teach you the /laugh , the kid outside the Epitaph will teach you the /rock /paper /scissors thing etc.

Which means that they are not really gone.

 

Another group of emotes that should be mentioned are battle emotes. These could be useful in bridging language barriers because they are translated into whatever language each player is using.

• Retreat
• Move forward
• I need help
• Out of focus
• Return to camp/town

 

Pole-dancing emote

"Oh my!" emote

Might need an /autoslap setting as a reaction to emotes of others!

 

~Communication Emotes~ (great suggestion)
I like these... International Communication will become an important factor once Asia opens up to SOTA more, but also for those who are typing communication challenged. This would be nice in our current hunting, because seldom do we wish to stop and chat, yet wish to signal our coming, goings and intents for attack or direction of hunting. Most players I see I am quite friendly with, yet most of us are too busy to party play or interact. We're just out hunting, taking care of our business...

I would like to see a dance emote that can be used with another person. You run the emote, select another person(or yourself) and if you choose someone else, they are prompted to accept or not and if they do, you dance together. If you choose yourself you dance it alone.

This would work well with the 'waltz' that was mentioned above and a handful or other dances as well.

 

I don't keep track often, but here is a screen shot from R21 and a screen shot from R29.



Gonna miss NosePick, PlayDead, Pontificate, and ThumbsUp. Maybe they gave the RoyalSalutation and RoyalWave only to "Royals". In R22 I took another shot and they took out tons but they put most back and the green are "New".

Is that no longer the case in R29?

Nosepick - claim a horse from Nob in owlshead

Playdead - ask one of the spirit talkers in the tavern in Ardoris fot advice about dealing with the undead

Pontificate - complete 2 quests asking for books about the obsidians in desolis

Thumbs-up - this one was a reward for the recruitment event. I am not sure if it is teachable or not.

Dance2 and dance3 were renamed. All the others can be found through questing or are pledge rewards.

The only emote that I can't seem to track down in the game is "boo" which I am guessing will return next Halloween.

And the runningman? I hope not. I'd almost rather see the Gagnam Style ponyride or the Harlem Shake.
Seriously, I'd rather see none of the three, but if I have to see it, you had better BRING IT.

 

"Relaxed lean" in AoC was good (folded arms, leaning back - needed to place your back to a wall/pillar/etc. or it looked odd).

Various multiple postures for sitting, kneeling & laying down would be good, so people can show more variety when gathered about for an event or such, outdoor concert or such

 

tbh i wouldn't either!! It was just an excuse to post that video that i had just seen and which i thought was funny, and i did used to love the Utah Saints. Gangnam style and the like most definitely not.

 

/march ... to allow player to line up and stay in line while marching. Pick a person and pick left right or back for position. Leader sets the pace and direction. This could also be used for the locomotion dance.
