Still no general chat channel? Why not?

    I'm lost as to why we still have no General chat channel or zone chat at least during testing phases

    general IRC channel, and also the DEV+ channel if you are DEV+

    A general channel in game would amount to spam really, and extra work for no reason (i.e. interscene general channel?)

    No general chat is good.

    I'd like to see whisper and group chat limited to people that are close to you.

    As long as you can toggle it off, I wouldn't mind it being available for those who want it. I don't care to listen to all the yammering that goes on in a general chat channel, myself...

    General chat is a cancer in most MMOs. It breaks immersion, encourages spam, and is almost impossible to moderate. It would also work against the ideals of this game.

    Global chat is the chat of the least common denominator. When the game is fresh the community is helpful and chatty. As the games starts showing it's age the helpfulness turns to snarky or shock factor comments.

    Don't care if it's there but it's got to be an addition not a foundation.

    They should just make the chatbox into an embedded irc client that has integration with certain game systems. :)

    but it can also provide valuable information as well as witty conversation. Its kind of like the bar area of the game.

    if u dont like it then just turn it off.
