So, the utility bar now works as and, as I suspected, any spells or abilities that would directly help you in combat are grayed out. What does work are potions, food items, resurrection spells and the light spell, which is pretty damn sweet.

Also, to activate items on the utility bar, either click them or hold shift and press the number.

[edit] You can also drag icons from the utility bar to your combat bar, while in combat, and then use them (after the cool-down, of course).

Together with the shorter cool-down when entering combat, this is going to be a fun release. :)

I see it as anything that could directly aid you in combat (with the exception of potions) can only be used from the combat bar.

What about stats buffs like Air Embrace ? Could be great to have them in the utility bar...

As long as they're buffs in the form of potions, you're good to go.

Now we just need to be able to drag emotes to our utility bar.

Love the bar... but the implementation seems awkward.

It's a little distracting in it's current form... How about something like the linked.

errr... no, having to look at the bottom and top of screen all the time for my spells/abilities etc. would be very very bad!

    Love it.

But my first thought is, can you pull something in the utility bar to the combat bar and stack it? If yes, that needs changed.

No, it replaces whatever is in that slot and it's locked (hence the cool-down). In order to unlock that slot, you would have to come out of combat mode and edit the hot-bar.

It's done in almost every other MMO.. so eh. It is at the top, side, elsewhere. The current implementation is very unsightly and awkward. I've been gaming for over 20 years and it is the very first combat/utility bar that has bugged me, and is a constant eye distraction. I'm pretty sure if they work with a UI design specialist tracking system, they would find people's eyes during combat wandering from combat to bar unnecessarily.

I'm not only OCD, but have coded indy games, and done UI design for all types of interfaces from web to software apps. Right now it's more of a distraction than anything. Adding a curvature to it, border, or something where it appears to be locked to the bottom of the screen as it is would be better. Howver right now... it's pretty awkward.

I prefer both bars in the same place.

I do not agree with you on this, I feel this has fallen short on offering a consumables bar as talked about in the last hangout. I currently use my non combat bar for buffs and heals so I can keep moving without so much down time. There just isn't enough bar slots to give them up for food or potions.

You can also use consumables (potions and food) from your inventory as well, even while in combat mode [incorrect, sorry]. I personally don't feel the need to take up a slot for food in either bar, since it has such a long (and interruptible) execution time and lasts a very long time.

[edit] The cool-down when entering combat is also a lot shorter, so buffing while out of combat is not so important now.

Hi Barugon, I just attempted to use food in combat but it is only working on the bar; the option is greyed out when using it from the backpack (when in combat mode)

Yes but you have the option you want... what about those who don't agree? I don't understand why they are attached.

After using this, it's actually hard to go back to R38. :(
