That's a pretty big difference and all of a sudden according to this my GPU is no longer adequate.

Well the original specs were for a different version of Unity, and years fewer updates. They probably just didn't bother to update it until they got to Release and a stable platform.

Which is kinda understandable, but that GPU jump is ridiculous. Most AAA titles don't even require a GTX960 at minimum.

I wouldn't complain so much if it wasn't for the prices on GPUs atm.

    also, recommended GTX 1080?

isn't that like... basically the top end graphics card out right now, or damn close to it?

thats insanely high for a recommended spec to play a game with graphics like SotA. I'm not saying they are bad but they are by no means high tech or super realistic to justify these minimum and recommended specs.

How many people even play with a 1080? I bet its a tiny percentage.

Thank you for the correction but that is still ridiculously high.

For reference, DOOM is a AAA title with high end grahpics and intense action scenes and has a recommended of gtx 970

Kingdom come deliverance has hyper realistic look and some of the most gorgeous graphics in recent memory (in my opoinion of course) and it's recommended is considered high at a gtx 1060

FWIW, I bet those recommended specs are partially a result of the extra load that is housing and decorating it. DOOM may be a AAA title, but A LOT of that game can be pre-rendered. This is an entirely different beast. I'd bet lots of money that if they limited the recommended specs to JUST adventure scenes that have no player housing, the specs would drop dramatically.

Either way I feel for you guys since Crypto mining has made GPU's fricking impossible to get even if you wanted to pay 50% more. I got lucky and picked up a 1080ti before all that BS went absolutely crazy.

No wonder graphics cards are so expensive these days.

It's not bitcoin, but alt coins. You need dedicated ASICs for Bitcoin to turn a profit.

I run with a GTX 750 Ti and it works fine for me. Of course that is on a AMD Ryzen 5 1600 w/16GB Ram and SSD.

My video card is the last unfinished piece of my last system upgrade.

Running on a GTX 860m GPU and quadcore i7 on a laptop with 16GB RAM. Usually play the game at 1920x1080 though I do throttle the resolution down on a guild run when too much is going on. Have an old large screen Samsung TV as a display :)

Wait, min specs are 8 gigs of ram? WTH. How is this on par with something like Fallout 4?

    Here's Fallout 4's specs:
    • Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
    • Intel Core i5-2300 2.8 GHz/AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0 GHz or equivalent.
    • 8 GB RAM.
    • 30 GB free HDD space.
    • NVIDIA GTX 550 Ti 2GB/AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB or equivalent.

I remember when my old 2012-era Latitude (the high-end 1080/i7 version with a mobile Nvidia chip) could get 15fps back in R22 or so. Then a few months later, pfffft. I have to down-res it just to avoid the peachpit. 750Ti in my main machine with 24GB/i7, and GT1030 in my second with 12GB/i5, both run it fine, but then I'm okay with 30fps on Fastest because I'm not obsessed with the pixels. (Not saying they don't get more fps, just that I don't care.)
They always have been. So tell me where Fallout 4 has user-placed deco by dozens of random people in the same scene.

Any settlement. Anywhere you go pretty much, since there's scrap all over the place.

But yeah, I can see the decro being taxing. But for Shroud to only exist inside of tiny instances, just surprising it's that high of specs.

My long term disagreement with the specs is the RAM.
I see so many complaints that 8GB is not enough and 12GB will not make that much difference.
I have always recommended 16GB as a minimum.

As far as the GPU is concerned, I feel that the RAM increase will make more difference.
