My guess would be right before Beta starts, as Alpha will be used to tune values.

+5 STR isn't worth more than 1 DamRes and 0.6 DamAvd?

Well, on the screenshot it says it is dyed green. I have not tested it lately, but only the cloth parts should be dyed now and crafted plate does not have much cloth parts so it is really hard to notice that.

I agree. I find the increase to stats well worth the tradeoff in slightly lower damage resistance and damage avoidance :) (All of my armor pieces and weapons now increase one or two stats ) Besides, you can always boost your innate skills to compensate for the lower damage avoidance and damage resistance (i.e., light armor and earth skill trees) o_O

So just so all you people who really do NOT understand it, the +2 str is from one of the Ingredients and the +3 is from a Crit success so if I take out the +2 Str and ass another .2 ANYTHING, and don't get a crit success (about 15% chance) CRAFTED armor is NOT better than something I can go and buy for 200 gold.

Does that explain it for you all now?

CRAFTED ARMOR IS NOT BETTER THAN CHEAP BOUGHT STUFF.

So once again when are we going to see crafted stuff that is ACTUALLY better than cheap bought stuff????

Well, you're comparing the best bought armor (Epic) with the best crafted armor (picking non-stupid ingredients, and critically succeeding).

And guess what? The best crafted armor *IS* better than the best bought armor.

i agree that it is a total waste of time to make crappy armor.
If you are going to the time and trouble and (possibly) expense -- you might as well use good ingredients combined with a bit of research in order to achieve a superior result.

I agree, the crafted plate chest looks better to me. It gives you higher str, attack skill, carrying capacity, and more hp.

With the stats and options you can have with played made armour, I have no real complaints and it is going in the right direction...........................oh and yes player made armour ultimately is better than NPC bought armour.

I'm pretty sure they (and I) understand you. We just don't agree with you. You are comparing an apple to half an orange. The benefit of player crafted armor is that you CAN put better stats in it. To create a comparison of poorly chosen properties is a futile attempt to craft a very specific argument that has little value in a rational discussion about NPC armor vs Player-made.

My current plate sets gives me +25 STR, +10 INT, and +4 DEX. I would NOT trade that for the best NPC armor on any day.

Also, player crafted plate chests can be dyed currently, although as Net said, there is very little surface area that is visible, even when dyed.

Sadly, the rest of the plate suit can't take any dyes yet. I would especially like to dye my legs and boots, as they have a lot of non-plate area exposed on the back.

Also, I'm sure there will be many more craftable armours with a variety of stat upgrades in the near future. Patience is a virtue. Well, not an official virtue. But y'know.

P.S.- Crafted armor is (or will be) more durable than NPC bought.

Yes, I've noticed that crafted armor doesn't degrade as fast as NPC bought armor :D That is a very good thing, because at 100 gold a piece, repair kit costs can really add up

The flip side of this is also, that the more expensive/valuable an item is (player crafted), it's supposed to repair for less with each repair kit.

In R15/16, when the crafted armor had very high NPC values, the repair kits did roughly 5% per kit on the crafted, and much more per kit on the NPC bought.
In R17, they reduced the NPC values of crafted armor, and this brought crafted and NPC armor closer to parity in repair kit effectiveness.
Also in R17, when they deactivated meticulous harvesting, they had doubled the effectiveness of repair kits.
I'm not sure of the current status of repair kit effectiveness between them, but I do expect at some point (if not already), we will see a difference in repair kit effectiveness once again, and NPC will be noticeably cheaper to repair.

Right now it appears to be consistent with all items. I believe 20 or 25 points of damage repaired per kit ;)
