when is alpha

    hey guys i haven't checked on this game in a while and i was wondering when is alpha for this game i cannot find the info anywhere thanks a bunch.

    It is estimated for December. But the most accurate answer is "when it's ready".

    I shuddered when I read your post, I hate people saying "will be ready when its ready". Brings images of Duke Nukem forever and Team Gizka KOTOR 2 restoration mod. Even Diablo 3 and its expansion pack and Blizard's standard reply "It will be ready when its ready" is now an annoyance rather than something to be trusted to show they care about there products unlike EA and the Ultima which must not be named

    XD Sorry! Didn't mean to bring back horror flashbacks! ;) But the fact is, they haven't reached a point that they have been able to give a difinitive date for the alpha release yet. They are aiming for December, but haven't set anything in stone yet.

    They tentatively said December, but to be honest, as with 99% of all games, there will be delays. I wouldn't be surprised if we got a playable version in Jan-February. :)

    And I would rather wait and give them time if they do need a delay to keep the quality bar high for Alpha.

    The last 'official' word was a couple weeks ago I think when they said the alpha was "on schedule" for December.. and I've heard implications that it would be mid-late December but before Christmas. Which tells me they actually have a target date (at least ballpark) in mind but are wisely withholding it until they're absolutely sure they'll be able to hit it.

    Personally I think if it's after the first week or so of the month, they should wait for December 26th. Otherwise there will be many angry families during Christmas... *coughs*

    lol I do not anticipate family obligations this year. So I'd like nothing better than to play around with SotA. Sad I know.. comes with not having any money among other things not worth getting into.

    I rather have it when it works so we can comment / suggest AND then make the final release quality and content high. Thats what alpha and betas are for. Specially if some parts of it needs our input to get it right. Plus theres the balancing of the gameplay etc.

    Generally, I would agree but my hunch is that there are tons of people -- especially those that haven't yet pledged -- that are waiting for the Alpha to form a real first impression. The prototype video during the KS campaign turned a ton of people away, and they're all waiting to see something substantial. Plus, everyone's been saying it's just that, a prototype, wait for the Alpha, everything will be 100x better, etc. Hopes are high indeed. Going out when they're not ready just to meet a date would do more long term harm than short term good, imo anyways.
