    Port might want to advertise the fact that 120 is the new 100 when it comes to success rates with crafting and taming.

    If we go with UO terms:
    100 Grandmaster
    110 Elder
    120 Legendary

    What is the difference between the two in terms of success rate? If 120 is 100% success rate, how much would 100 be?

    It's not really about success rate. You can fail your way to making something and just burn up a few fuels. It's about crit chance and getting a strength crit'd item.

    Yes you're success alters your crit chance %.

    Did they change this without a single public post or note in the patch notes? Surely they wouldn't be that... cavalier?

    Don't think so. I believe we all assumed 100 meant something.

    So the public target of "My target was that the casual player would get some skills into the 80 range. The hard core target was 100." (from Chris, here) would seem to no longer be accurate.

    That quote and the assumption that 100 meant grand master don't correlate.

    Evidently, presuming 120 is the new 'hardcore'. ;)

    80 is master, 100 grandmaster, 150 soft cap
    Nobody said, that those title meant something regarding Crafting. A Master can have all 5 Glyph of a skill, thats why you are now a Master. With 100 you are a Grandmaster that can teach someone else something, means he can skill faster. Nothing more is meant with this title. They have no connection to crafting or crafting chances, even when they are used there. Not logical but decided somewhere with in Port.
    Regarding Taming, 119 is the minimum to have at least a chance of 1% to tame the best pet, so to be useful you need to go to 130.

    So what to call the other important numbers 40, 20, 10?
    40 = competent
    20 = apprentice
    10 = beginner
    ?

    I don't understand the OP, or what we are really discussing.. do you feel there are now different limits than what was defined by the devs? Do we know the success rate on crits or something?

    You don't think it would surprise a majority of the player base that they are 19 levels short of a 1% chance at taming the hardest creature once they hit GM?

    What is the % at the lowest? Did I get really really lucky when I made my crit ring at < 30 Blacksmithing?

    I would be upset if leveling up to 80 wouldn't give me a good chance at making a crit item... and that's what people have been experiencing?

    I do not tame, but I would not like those odds at all, it would be far too unattainable.. same applies to crafting, if it is really that bad. How can I tell the chance I have of making a crit item though?

    Ay yi yi! That's not going to go over well with the general gaming public, given the time & money commitment required.
    And no, the general opinion will be that's NOT remotely similar to UO (not even as a 'spiritual successor').
    It's these type of clandestine reveals that make me incredibly critical of game developers. They hide this information, act surprised when it's discovered, and then wonder why players won't play their game when presented with all the facts. Gee, maybe because it's punitive? Where's the FUN in this? Meh.
    I wanted to be a tamer. Guess I won't bother now. Lame.
